  • Patent number: 8238301
Abstract: A method, system, and wireless frame structure for supporting different modes of multiple radio access. The described system comprises base stations and terminals. There is a group of base stations at the same location, which include at least two synchronized base stations on the same frequency band, supporting different multiple access techniques in downlink or uplink. The base stations in the described group transmit downlink frames in a negotiated downlink zone and receive uplink frames in a negotiated uplink zone respectively, and the zones of the base stations are not overlapped. Each terminal accesses to one of the base stations according to the downlink multiple access technique that it supports, and receives/transmits signals in the downlink zone/uplink zone allocated to the base station.

  • Patent number: 8218465
Abstract: Techniques of selective demodulation of downlink frames using a subscriber description segment or activity descriptor to identify one or more subscriber stations to which at least a portion of data placed in the downlink frame is addressed in wireless communication systems such as frame-based point-to-multipoint wireless communication systems. The described techniques can be used to reduce power consumption at each subscriber station and to elongate the battery time of mobile devices, especially in the bursty Internet data transmission. • Patent number: 8116195
Abstract: Techniques for generating preamble sequences for OFDM and OFDMA communication systems based on CAZAC sequences with desired properties of constant amplitudes (CA) and zero autocorrelation (ZAC). Such preamble sequences may be used for synchronization and identification of individual transmitters. For example, the OFDMA symbol is constructed using a CAZAC sequence in the frequency-domain and the resulting time-domain waveform is a near-CAZAC sequence.

  • Publication number: 20110116485
Abstract: A method for tessellating a subframe using maximal-sized bricks. A brick bandwidth and a brick time duration are computed based on the heights and widths of the bursts in the subframe. Bursts within the brick-tessellated subframe are referenced using a brick-based coordinate system in which burst location and size are specified in units of bricks. A method for assembling and disassembling brick-based superframes is also disclosed. Bricked-based superframes are assembled and disassembled using a Superframe Preamble, a Superframe Control Header (SFCH), a Superframe Downlink Map (SDL-MAP), a Superframe Uplink MAP (SUL-MAP) and brick-structured downlink and uplink frames.
