  • Publication number: 20040264515
Abstract: A tunable laser source includes a gain chip, a collimating lens, a grating, a focusing lens and a wavelength selection device. The grating is positioned to be impinged by the collimated light to provide diffracted beams at different diffraction angles whose wavelengths disperse in accordance with the diffraction angles. Those diffracted beams are then brought to separate focal points on the wavelength selection device through the focusing lens. The wavelength selection device includes a light shield with a single slit formed thereon and a mirror. The single silt allows the mirror to reflect only one diffracted beam back to the gain chip so as to maintain the oscillation of the tunable laser source at the wavelength corresponding to the diffraction angle of the only one focused diffracted beam.

  • Patent number: 6831789
Abstract: A rotating periodic color-regulating module of the image display device is disclosed to improve the usage of light. The rotating periodic color-regulating module comprises a color separating light guide and a color-regulating processor. By using a grating element installed in front of the color separating light guide, the incident light is interleaved into three parts of different wavelengths, red (R), green (G) and blue (B), propagating toward the corresponding color filters. Part of the light is reflected by the color filters, then reflected by the mirror around the grating element, and goes back to the color filters. The incident light is divided into three uniform beams of light, R, G and B, to the color-regulating processor. The color-regulating processor changes the outgoing position and order of the light beams periodically and rapidly for displaying image.

  • Publication number: 20040160758
Abstract: The light guiding apparatus has a light tunnel and an ellipsoidal reflector. Light emitted from the light tunnel is reflected and focused on a DMD chip by the ellipsoidal reflector. The light tunnel and a long axis of the ellipsoidal reflector form an angle. The angle and an eccentricity of the ellipsoidal reflector are used to modify the light emitted from the light tunnel. Thus the light is made to fit an incident angle and an effective dimension of a digital micro-mirror device when the light arrives at the digital micro-mirror device.

  • Patent number: 6776492
Abstract: A multiple reflective mirrors module is described. The module is utilized in an optical engine of a business machine, such as a projector, a laser printer, a copy machine, or a scanner. The module has a fixed reflective mirror, a first tilting reflective mirror, and a second tilting reflective mirror. The first tilting reflective mirror receives an incident light and reflects the incident light to the fixed reflective mirror. Subsequently, the light is reflected by the fixed reflective mirror to the second tilting reflective mirror. Therefore, the second tilting reflective mirror generates an output light. When the first tilting reflective mirror rotates within an angle &thgr;1 and the second tilting reflective mirror rotates within an angle &thgr;2, the output light is capable of rotating within an output angle, twice of &thgr;1+&thgr;2. The fixed reflective mirror can be replaced by another tilting reflective mirror.

  • Patent number: 6773143
Abstract: A structure for reflection of light comprising a curved surface reflector for reflecting the light emitted from a light source located on a focus of the curved surface reflector, and a semi-sphere surface for reflecting the light emitted from the light source located on a center of the semi-sphere surface. In specific, the focus of the curved surface reflector and the center of the semi-sphere surface are so positioned as to be substantially on the same location, thus after the light emitted from the light source is reflected by the semi-sphere surface, the reflected light passes through the center to illuminate on the curved surface reflector, so that all of the light emitted from the light source can pass through the center to illuminate on the curved surface reflector and is then reflected by the same so as to obtain a condensed light beam with the smaller converging angle and spot size.
