  • Patent number: 7133042
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for integrating anatomical information from a plurality of sources of information. The system receives two or more three dimensional (3D) anatomical maps sharing a common plane specified by three or more marker points common to the two or more maps; places one or more marker points on one or more teeth; generates a digital teeth model with the marker points; and aligns the two or more 3D anatomical maps and the teeth model using the marker points.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 11, 2005
Date of Patent: November 7, 2006
    Assignee: Align Technology, Inc.

  • Patent number: 4924505
Abstract: A mensuration apparatus for converting film images and paper drawings into digital photogrammetric arrays to be computer processed, displayed, mensurated and analyzed. This mensuration apparatus includes a table on which a translatable camera and a reseau assembly are mounted. The reseau assembly includes an object mounting plate for mounting an object such as a photograph, map, or the like, and a grid mark system for superimposing grid marks on the object. The translatable camera includes a solid state camera having a two-dimensional array of light sensor elements mounted over the reseau assembly in a translatable mounting apparatus. Said translation camera can be moved to any desired position over the reseau assembly, as well as toward and away from the reseau assembly, forming three coordinate systems, which are correlated together for precise mensuration of an object image digitized by the solid state camera.

  • Patent number: 4849912
Abstract: An image digitizing and stereo mensuration system for analyzing hard copy photographic, transparency, paper drawing, radar, and other images, features an improved mensuration frame grabbing system utilizing a reseau grid location reference system in which individual reseau detection and location is automatic. One or more specific sub-areas of a large macro-area stereo image, or an entire large format macro-area stereo image can be digitized, correlated and displayed as a stereo image, such as a three-dimensional display or other stereo overlapping images, on a CRT, graphic display device or the like.

  • Patent number: 4836778
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring, storing and displaying movements of a person's mandible in relation to the cranium, comprises a plurality of infrared LED's securely mounted to the cranium and to the jaw, in immovable relation to the mandible. The location of each LED, as determined by photodiodes as the LED's are sequentially turned on and off, is compared against an established three dimensional system frame of reference and through distinct local frames of reference associated with the cranium and the jaw, respectively, within the system frame of reference. A pointer, also provided with LED's is used to locate specific points on the mandible in reference to the movement described by the LED's attached to the lower jaw. The data is collected, calibrated and stored by a computer for subsequent display and analysis, either alone or in conjunction with a video display of the person's actual head and jaw as the data was taken.

  • Patent number: 4809066
Abstract: The method of this invention includes the steps of positioning a reseau with grid marks on the object and sequentially illuminating the grid marks separate from the object and illuminating the object separate from the grid marks or in a manner that the grid marks are not visible with the object. The image of the grid mark positions, when illuminated, are digitized and stored in computer memory and correlated with the image of the object when it is illuminated and digitized. The scale of the image can also be correlated to the scale of the grid marks.
