Patent number: 7607105Abstract: Navigation between a plurality of property sheets on a display of a mobile electronic device, each of the property sheets having a tab index and a layout defining a plurality of elements. One of the property sheets is a displayed property sheet and one of the elements is a current active element. Navigation includes (i) storing the tab index of the displayed property sheet as a current tab index; (ii) detecting a soft key event; regardless of which of the elements is a current active element, (iii) modifying the current tab index based on a soft key identifier of the soft key event to create an updated tab index; and (iv) displaying another property sheet of the plurality of property sheets on the display, the another property sheet having a tab index equal to the updated tab index.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2006Date of Patent: October 20, 2009Assignee: Research In Motion LimitedInventors: Sean David Drew Wilson, Rouzbeh Noori, Alvin Yulo, Carl Edward Kilgour Pacey, Michael Busheikin

Publication number: 20090201372Abstract: A method and apparatus for integrated ATM surveillance of an area of interest, such as an automated teller machine (ATM), is presented. An embodiment includes a surveillance system for an ATM utilizing multiple cameras aimed at the user, the card slot, the cash dispenser, the surrounding areas and internally in the card reader (to link the card used to the ATM user). The cameras are constantly powered and begin to record images after a sensor is activated. A buffer of recorded imagery is maintained such that when the sensors are activated, the video processing equipment can store a pre-defined amount of time before the sensor is activated. The buffer allows for the video capture of events just prior to the activation of the sensor. A time stamp and any other relevant data from the cameras may also be included with the stored recorded video.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2009Publication date: August 13, 2009Applicant: Fraudhalt, Ltd.Inventors: Phelim Anthony O'Doherty, Sean David McCarthy, Patrick Joseph Smith, Carlos Luna, John Joseph O'Kane, Fergus Taylor, Wayne Kearns, Roger Hatfield

Publication number: 20090009157Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for measuring magnetic force response time due to the magnetic viscosity of materials and for measuring total energy exchanged due to relative motion of magnetic materials. Voltage and current versus time through an electromagnet is measured and recorded. Corresponding force versus time is measured for magnetic forces applied to a material under test in response to energizing the electromagnet to determine effects of magnetic viscosity of the material under test. A test system is also provided for measuring energy exchanged due to the relative motion of magnetic materials. Absolute values of transferred mechanical energy and electrical energy are combined to determine the total energy exchanged by interaction of a permanent magnet and an electromagnet.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2008Publication date: January 8, 2009Applicant: Steorn LimitedInventors: Sean David McCarthy, Alan Simpson, Martin Flood, Maxime Sorin

Publication number: 20080172477Abstract: Described is a technology by which network server software has an interface into which a plurality of software router providers, that have methods to configure routers, may be plugged in. The network server software communicates with each provider to determine each of the provider's capabilities with respect to configuring a connected network router. A router provider is chosen based on that provider's capabilities in order to configure the router. In one example implementation, a router configuration component of the network software passes an IP address of the router to each provider and receives a score in return that indicates that provider's capabilities with respect to configuring the connected router. The provider with the best score is chosen for use in configuring the router. The score is built from weighted values, with more weight given to the capabilities deemed more valuable to users who need to configure routers.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2007Publication date: July 17, 2008Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Leszek Mazur, Sean David Daniel, Adam C. Publication number: 20080172476Abstract: Described is a technology by which a server automatically configures itself for adding to an existing network. Upon connection to the network, the server obtains settings including existing subnet and gateway IP addresses from a DHCP assigned IP configuration (e.g., a router). The server uses the settings to automatically configure itself to dynamically provide addresses similar to the previous scope to clients. In one implementation, the server software sets its network card set to a static IP address state while the server is configured, and thereafter sets the network card to a dynamic state. The router is disabled during server configuration, and re-enabled thereafter, whereby the server DHCP service instead of the router DHCP service assigns the addresses. The server may also attempt to automatically connect to the Internet.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2007Publication date: July 17, 2008Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Sean David Daniel, Leszek Mazur, Adam C. Publication number: 20070277120Abstract: Prompting user confirmation of an action in a display window on a display of a mobile electronic device including displaying a pair of soft key icons, receiving a request to initiate an action from a user and displaying a confirmation message to confirm that a user wishes to proceed with the action. When the confirmation message is displayed, the pair of soft key icons are modified to create a pair of updated soft key icons. The receiving of the request may include detection of a soft key event. The updated soft key icons provide a first response and a second response to the confirmation message for selection by the user. Patent number: 6955721Abstract: A coating apparatus for applying a coating liquid to a printing substrate. The coating apparatus has a rotatable first roll and a rotatable second roll, each having a surface energy. The second roll is positioned adjacent to the first roll and defines with the first roll a first nip through which the printing substrate passes A metering device is provided for applying a substantially uniform layer of coating liquid onto the second roll. The second roll in turn transfers the coating liquid to the printing substrate. The surface energy of the second roll is greater than the surface energy of the coating liquid. In one embodiment, the metering device includes a rotatable third roll and a doctor blade contacting the third roll, each having a surface energy. The surface energy of at least a portion of either or both the third roll and doctor blade is less than the surface energy of the coating liquid.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2002Date of Patent: October 18, 2005Assignee: Lexmark International, Inc.Inventors: Ronald Willard Baker, Michael Wesley Baskette, Randall Steven Gall, Hishikesh Pramod Gogate, James Philip Harden, Philip Jerome Heink, Andrew Charles Hogan, Royden Thomas Kern, Jean Marie Massie, Sean David Smith, Mark Alan Wahl
