  • Publication number: 20200101337
Abstract: A sprinkler assembly includes a body defining an inlet, an outlet, and a fluid passage extending along a longitudinal axis between the inlet and the outlet. A guide pin aperture is defined by at least one of the body or a bushing coupled to the body. The sprinkler assembly further includes a deflector slidably coupled to the body. The deflector includes a deflector body coupled to a guide pin. The guide pin includes a shaft portion extending through the guide pin aperture and a shoulder that is wider than the shaft portion and configured to engage at least one of the body or the bushing to limit movement of the deflector body away from the body.

  • Publication number: 20190358476
Abstract: Water mist fire protection systems and methods for the protection of data centers having a raised floor defining an interstitial space beneath the floor. The systems and methods include the location of a plurality of automatic water mist nozzles above and/or beneath the floor to generate a water mist for effectively addressing a fire in the presence of a flow of forced air ventilation through the interstitial space. The systems and methods of water mist fire protection include the interconnection of the automatic water mist nozzles to a water supply to provide for dry pipe or preaction systems and methods. Water mist fire protection of data centers using fire propagating cable is also provided.

  • Patent number: 10213636
Abstract: A thermally responsive fluid control valve includes a thermally responsive actuating assembly and a body having an inlet, at least one outlet, and a valve seat formed internally of the inlet. An axially translating sealing assembly is supported in a seated position against the valve seat by the thermally responsive actuating assembly and the sealing assembly has an unseated position upon operation of the actuating assembly. The sealing assembly includes a sealing member having an impact surface for redirecting fluid from the inlet to the at least one outlet and a rod member with an outer surface in a surface engagement with the opening of a cover plate and/or the actuating assembly to orient the sealing member such that the impact surface directs fluid flow to the outlets.

  • Publication number: 20180318620
Abstract: Sectional fire protection systems and methods for the protection of an attic space are provided. A fluid control thermal detection device is located above a ceiling base and one or more open fluid distribution devices are disposed, spaced and connected to the fluid control thermal detection device for receipt of firefighting fluid from the fluid control thermal detection device to protect the attic space with a desired fluid density and total system flow demand.

  • Patent number: 9956443
Abstract: Systems and methods for the protection of an attic or concealed combustible space defined by a ceiling base and a roof deck disposed above a ceiling base defining a peak are provided. A plurality of fluid distribution devices are spaced above the ceiling base and below the roof deck to define a peak region. At least one fire detection assembly is disposed in the peak region above the fluid distribution devices to detect a fire in the attic space. A controller couples the plurality of distribution devices to the fire detection assembly. The fluid distribution devices are disposed at a working clearance distance above the ceiling base to provide an extended protected eaves region of the attic space.

  • Patent number: 9717936
Abstract: A sprinkler assembly that includes a frame having a body including an inlet, an outlet and an internal passageway extending between the inlet and the outlet to define a longitudinal sprinkler axis. Two frame arms extend distally from the body, and each arm has a portion defining a cross-sectional area with a lateral surface and a medial surface spaced about a first plane bisecting the body with the sprinkler axis disposed in the first plane. An axially aligned thermally responsive glass-bulb type trigger is disposed along the sprinkler axis. The cross-sectional areas of the frame arms are asymmetrical with respect to one another about the first plane and each cross-sectional area is asymmetric about a second plane perpendicular to the first plane. The lateral surface of each arm includes an undulation to provide the sprinkler assembly with substantially consistent thermal sensitivity about the sprinkler axis.
