One aspect of the invention includes methods and compositions for the treatment of Early-Mortality Syndrome (EMS) in shrimp through the use of truncated PirBVp peptides used as competitor inhibitors to reduce formation of the cytotoxic PirAVp/PirBVp dimer complex.
