  • Patent number: 9216852
Abstract: An actuator (18, 18?) is provided for actuating a valve (16) on a container (14) for dispensing a fluent product. The actuator (18, 18?) includes an exterior housing (40, 40?) and a rotatable member (42, 42?). The rotatable member (42, 42?) is located in an interior chamber (48) of the housing (40, 40?) and includes an engageable surface (54) located in a circumferentially extending window (50) of the housing (40, 40?) to be engaged by a user for movement of the engageable surface (54) within the window (50) between a locked position wherein movement of an actuator button (52) from an un-actuated position to an actuated position is prevented and an unlocked position wherein movement of the actuator button (52) from the un-actuated position to the actuated position is allowed to actuate the valve (16).

  • Patent number: 8540121
Abstract: A dispensing actuator for use on a container having pressurized contents is configured for convenient one-handed manipulation and use by consumers. The dispensing actuator includes a hingedly moveable flip-open lid, and a laterally moveable opening element, which can be manipulated so that the opening element cooperates with the lid to move the lid from a closed position to an opened position. The present dispensing actuator further includes an inner, downwardly deflectable actuating element, operatively connected with a dispensing valve of the associated container. Resilient, downward deflection of the actuating element, after opening of the dispensing actuator lid, permits the contents of the container to be conveniently dispensed. In one embodiment, the contents of the container are dispensed generally laterally of the dispensing actuator, while in alternate embodiments, the container's contents are dispensed generally upwardly, through the actuating element of the dispensing actuator.

  • Patent number: 7882990
Abstract: An inverted aerosol dispensing device is disclosed having an undercap rotatably secured to the aerosol container with a bottom portion of the undercap supporting the aerosol container on a supporting surface to store the aerosol dispensing device in an inverted position. The undercap is rotatable into a first rotational position for enabling an actuator to discharge an aerosol product in a generally downwardly direction. The undercap is rotatable into a second rotational position for inhibiting the actuator from moving the valve stem.

  • Patent number: 7249692
Abstract: A dispensing assembly is provided for a container of fluent material. A hand-operable dispenser cartridge is adapted to be mounted to the container. An actuator, which may include a nozzle or spout, is mounted on the cartridge. A locking sleeve is mounted around the cartridge and has an upper abutment edge and a recess. The locking sleeve can be rotated between a first rotated position preventing actuation of the dispensing assembly and a second rotated position permitting actuation of the dispensing assembly.

  • Patent number: 7246722
Abstract: A bottom dispensing aerosol device is disclosed comprising an aerosol container with an aerosol valve located at a bottom portion of the aerosol container. A coupling mounts an undercap to the aerosol container with a top portion of the undercap being adjacent to a bottom portion of the aerosol container. A bottom portion of the undercap supports the aerosol container on a supporting surface in an inverted position. An actuator is provided for opening the aerosol valve for discharging the aerosol product from the aerosol container when the bottom portion of the undercap is supporting the aerosol container in the inverted position on a supporting surface.
