  • Patent number: 10712899
Abstract: Techniques are shown for controlling spacing between a user and a UI that involve monitoring a user position relative to the UI. A first region is defined to determine a maximum spacing. When the user position is outside the first region, a reference point of the UI is moved toward the user position until the user position is within the first region. A second region is defined to determine a minimum spacing. When the user position is outside the second region, the reference point is moved toward the user position until the user position is within the second region.

  • Patent number: 10671237
Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for presenting a user interface (“UI”) in a three dimensional virtual environment that involves positioning one or more UI elements at first locations on a curved surface in the virtual environment, where the one or more UI elements are tangential to the curved surface. The curved surface is defined by a first distance to a reference point. The disclosed technologies also involve, for at least one of the UI elements, computing a second location for the UI element on the curved surface and moving the UI element to the second location on the curved surface.

  • Patent number: 10672190
Abstract: Techniques for customizing appearance in mixed reality are provided. According to one set of embodiments, an electronic device configured to enable mixed reality (i.e., a mixed reality device) can detect presence of a real-world individual in a field of view of the device and determine whether the individual is associated with one or more appearance customizations. If so, the mixed reality device can render the one or more appearance customizations on top of, or nearby, the individual on a display of the device.

  • Publication number: 20200019242
Abstract: Examples are disclosed that relate to evoking an emotion and/or other an expression of an avatar via a gesture and/or posture sensed by a wearable device. One example provides a computing device including a logic subsystem and memory storing instructions executable by the logic subsystem to receive, from a wearable device configured to be worn on a hand of a user, an input of data indicative of one or more of a gesture and a posture. The instructions are further executable to, based on the input of data received, determine a digital personal expression corresponding to the one or more of the gesture and the posture, and output the digital personal expression.

  • Publication number: 20190114051
Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for presenting a user interface (“UP”) in a three dimensional virtual environment that involves positioning one or more UI elements at first locations on a curved surface in the virtual environment, where the one or more UI elements are tangential to the curved surface. The curved surface is defined by a first distance to a reference point. The disclosed technologies also involve, for at least one of the UI elements, computing a second location for the UI element on the curved surface and moving the UI element to the second location on the curved surface.
