Publication number: 20190139648Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method of triaging a health-related inquiry includes receiving an input of at least one symptom of a patient into a virtual consultation application. The patient is asked at least one question relating to the at least one input symptom. A probability condition report having at least one probable condition of the patient is made based on the at least one symptom and an answer to the at least one question. A triaged recommendation to the patient is made based on the at least one probable condition, wherein the triaged recommendation instructs the patient to do at least one of: review existing information in a medical knowledge database; ask a question to a network of healthcare professionals; initiate a text-based electronic message or video chat communication with a healthcare professional; seek advice of a referral healthcare professional; and seek emergency medical care.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 3, 2019Publication date: May 9, 2019Inventors: Geoffrey W. RUTLEDGE, Ron J. GUTMAN, Sean Kshitij MEHRA

Publication number: 20160001037Abstract: A urinary catheter system includes a catheter, a sheath, an enclosure and a plug. The catheter has distal and proximal ends. The sheath is slidable along the catheter between first and second positions. The enclosure encloses a majority of the catheter and includes a bottom member, a top member, an outer peripheral wall defining an outer hole to allow advancement of the distal end, and an inner peripheral wall defining an inner hole, where the catheter is extendable through the inner hole. Rotating the top or bottom member relative to the other member causes the catheter to wind within the enclosure. The plug can seal the proximal end to block liquid flow, and a user can disengage the plug to allow liquid flow.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2015Publication date: January 7, 2016Inventors: Daniel Wei-Chen Hong, Myung Sun Choi, Katherine Muterspaugh Steele, David Philip Janka, Sean Kshitij Mehra, Naama Stauber

Patent number: 8974438Abstract: Packaging including a coiled and optionally prelubricated catheter, its distal end insertable into the urethra, a slidable hygienic sheath, a proximal catheter end for voiding urine from the distal end through the assembly to the proximal end. Mutually rotatable elements providing for withdrawal of the catheter from its coiled state to an extended state, and retraction of the catheter back to its coiled state. Methods of extending the catheter, inserting it into the urethra, and voiding urine through the catheter, without requiring complete removal from the catheter packaging. A kit including automatic extrusion of the catheter's distal end upon package opening, and a water pouch for hydrophilic lubrication, and sanitary wipes for reducing the likelihood of infection. A catheter within a flexible and optionally coiled tube, a slidable hygienic sheath covering a catheter's distal end that can move along the length of the catheter during insertion.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2013Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: Compactcath, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Wei-Chen Hong, Myung Sun Choi, Katherine Muterspaugh Steele, David Philip Janka, Sean Kshitij Mehra, Naama Stauber
