  • Patent number: 11725573
Abstract: An exhaust system includes a housing comprising a first housing portion and a second housing portion separated by a common wall. The first housing portion has a first exhaust passage therethrough. The first exhaust passage has a first inlet receiving exhaust gasses from a turbocharger. The second housing portion has a second exhaust passage therethrough. The second exhaust passage has a second inlet receiving gasses from an exhaust bypass valve. The first passage and the second passage are non-intersecting within the housing.

  • Publication number: 20200182138
Abstract: A turbocharger and method of controlling the same includes a turbine housing comprising an inlet and an outlet, turbine wheel coupled to a shaft. The turbine housing comprising a first scroll and a second scroll for fluidically coupling the inlet and the turbine wheel. The first scroll has a first end adjacent the inlet and a second end adjacent the turbine wheel. The second scroll has a third end adjacent the inlet and a fourth end adjacent the turbine wheel. An exhaust gas diverter valve is coupled to the turbine housing restricting flow into the first scroll or the second scroll.

  • Publication number: 20200182142
Abstract: A two-stroke engine system has a two stroke engine with an exhaust manifold, a tuned pipe coupled to the exhaust manifold, a stinger coupled to the tuned pipe and a turbocharger coupled to the stinger has a turbine portion having a turbine wheel having an inducer area and a turbine exducer area. A wastegate is in communication with the turbocharger. The wastegate comprises a port area greater than about 37% of the turbine exducer area.

  • Publication number: 20200182140
Abstract: An engine system comprises a two stroke engine, an exhaust manifold, a tuned pipe coupled to the exhaust manifold and a turbocharger coupled to the engine. The turbocharger comprises a turbine inlet coupled to the exhaust manifold through the tuned pipe, and a turbine outlet coupled to an exhaust pipe. A silencer is coupled to the exhaust pipe. A bypass pipe has a first end coupled to the tuned pipe and a second end bypassing the turbine outlet and a wastegate disposed in the bypass pipe.

  • Publication number: 20200182141
Abstract: An engine system and method of operating the same includes a two stroke engine, an exhaust manifold coupled to the two-stroke engine, a tuned pipe coupled to the exhaust manifold coupled to the exhaust manifold, a stinger pipe coupled to the tuned pipe, a silencer coupled to the tuned pipe and an exhaust pipe, and an exhaust bypass valve. Exhaust gases are directed from the two stroke engine through an exhaust manifold and through a tuned pipe. An opening of the exhaust bypass valve is changed to redirect exhaust gases away from the tuned pipe to change a pressure within the tuned pipe. In response to changing the opening of the exhaust bypass valve, the airflow through the engine is changed.
