  • Patent number: 9873616
Abstract: A method and system is provided to separate calcium carbonate inorganic eggshell from the inner lining of organic protein-based membrane in eggshell by-product. The method involves three phases: mechanical agitation/separation, functional chemical digestion and refining chemical digestion. In the mechanical stage, agitation and sieving are used to remove large pieces, and the majority of, membrane material. In the functional chemical digestion stage, the by-product is processed through at least one basic solution to remove additional organic membrane and impurities. In the refining chemical digestion stage, the remaining organic membrane and impurities are removed. The purified calcium carbonate is then rinsed and dried, in preparation for further refinement and processing to finished goods specifications.

  • Patent number: 9854292
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for measuring audience engagement for a media asset using user motion. For example, a media guidance application may receive movement logs from a plurality of user equipment. These movement logs may contain information indicating when each of the plurality of users moved, as detected by motion sensors, while the user equipment was generating for display a media asset. The movement logs may be analyzed to determine time periods during the media asset during which greater than a certain number of the plurality of users were moving. These time periods may in turn be used to infer how engaged the plurality of users were during the media asset or what portions of the media asset the plurality of users viewed. This data may be used to determine in what media assets, or portions thereof, supplemental video content should be inserted.

  • Patent number: 9792720
Abstract: A synthetic acceleration shape bound primitives composing a 3-D scene, and is defined using a group of fundamental shapes arranged to bound the primitives, and for which intersection results for group members yield an ultimate intersection testing result for the synthetic shape, using a logical operator. For example, two or more spheres are used to bound an object so that each of the spheres is larger than a minimum necessary to bound the object, and a volume defined by an intersection between the shapes defines a smaller volume in which the object is bounded. A ray is found to potentially intersect the object only if it intersects both spheres. In another example, an element may be defined by a volumetric union of component elements. Indicators can determine how groups of shapes should be interpreted. Synthetic shapes can be treated as a single element in a graph or hierarchical arrangement of acceleration elements.

  • Patent number: 9701461
Abstract: Packages and methods of packaging a plurality of glass sheets provide a stack of glass sheets with an interleaf protective sheet positioned between each adjacent pair of glass sheets. An outer portion of each interleaf protective sheet is bent over a portion of the peripheral edge of one of a corresponding adjacent pair of glass sheets to discourage relative shifting of the glass sheets with respect to one another. The stack of glass sheets are sandwiched between pressure members of an outer housing such that the pressure members each apply a support pressure that is distributed over an outer surface of a corresponding one of the pair of outermost glass sheets of the stack of glass sheets.
