Abstract: A hybrid filter assembly for an aquatic application is provided in the form of a vessel, a first filtration stage, a second filtration stage, a bypass assembly, and a controller. The vessel includes a first port which receives fluid from the aquatic application. The first filtration stage and the second filtration stage are retained in the vessel. The first filtration stage is designed to filter particles imparted with a first size, while the second filtration stage is designed to filter particles imparted with a second size. The bypass assembly is in fluid communication with a second port the vessel. The controller is in communication with the bypass assembly, and the controller actuates the bypass assembly to alter an operational state of the hybrid filter assembly.

  • Publication number: 20250145496
Abstract: A method of operating a filtration system including a hybrid filter assembly is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a pump that is in fluid communication with a pool or a spa, providing a hybrid filter assembly including a filtration module, providing a chemical cleaning system including a container configured to retain a chemical cleaning agent in which the container is in fluid communication with the hybrid filter assembly, and providing a controller in communication with the hybrid filter assembly and the chemical cleaning system. The method also includes the steps of determining via the controller an operational efficiency of the filtration module at a predetermined interval of time and initiating via the controller a chemical cleaning mode to clean the hybrid filter assembly.

  • Publication number: 20250145495
Abstract: A system for an aquatic application is provided in the form of a pump, a filtration system, a container, and a controller. The container is arranged to be in fluid communication with the filtration system and retains a chemical cleaning agent. The valve is positioned to be in fluid communication with the container and the filtration system. The controller is in communication with the valve. The controller is designed to determine a first permeability value associated with the filtration system at a first time period and initiates a cleaning procedure by providing the chemical cleaning agent to the filtration system when the first permeability value is below a permeability threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20250136479
Abstract: A pool filtration system is provided in the form of a pump, a primary filter, an auxiliary filter, a membrane filtration module, and a valve. The pump is in fluid communication with the primary filter and the auxiliary filter, while the primary filter is in fluid communication with the auxiliary filter. The primary filter includes a pleated non-woven filter element, and the auxiliary filter includes an influent port and an effluent port. The influent port is fluidly coupled to the primary filter and receives fluid from the primary filter, and the influent port and the effluent port are fluidly coupled across the membrane filtration module. The valve is designed to selectively fluidly couple the influent port to the effluent port and allow a portion of the fluid from the primary filter to travel from the influent port to the effluent port without traveling through the membrane filtration module.

  • Patent number: 12180094
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a pool filtration system for filtering pool water including a pump, a primary filter in fluid communication with the pump, and an auxiliary filter in fluid communication with the pump and the primary filter. The auxiliary filter can include a membrane filtration module, and a flow distribution manifold. The flow distribution manifold can include an influent port in fluid communication with an influent flow opening and an effluent port in fluid communication with an effluent flow opening. The influent flow opening and the effluent flow opening can be fluidly coupled across the membrane filtration module. The flow distribution manifold can further include a bypass mechanism. The bypass mechanism can include at least one valve that selectively fluidly couples the influent port to the effluent port to bypass the membrane filtration module.

  • Publication number: 20240219219
Abstract: Various systems and methods for determining pool volume are provided. A method for calibrating a pool device for a swimming pool or spa comprises injecting a known quantity of a chemical tracer reagent into the pool water, circulating the pool water of the pool or spa system for a pre-determined period of time, and measuring the concentration of the chemical tracer reagent via a sensor. The method further includes the steps of calculating the volume of the pool or spa system based on the measured concentration, inputting the volume into a user interface in communication with a pool device, and automatically adjusting at least one operating parameter of the swimming pool or spa based on the volume.

  • Publication number: 20240219876
Abstract: An apparatus and method for bather load detection are provided. In one instance, a method for determining bather load in a pool comprises calculating a first permeability of a membrane filter at a first period of time by measuring a pressure differential across a membrane filter located in the pool, measuring a flow rate of pool water through the fluid circuit formed by the pool, determining a volume of the membrane, calculating a second permeability of a membrane filter at a second period of time, calculating a difference between the first permeability and the second permeability, and determining a bather load based on the calculated difference between the first permeability and the second permeability.
