  • Patent number: 9402125
Abstract: A headset includes an ear hook assembly (102) and an ear bud assembly (110). The ear hook assembly includes a hook portion (104) that is configured to slip over a user's ear, and a rotatable arm portion (106) that is configured to rotate around an axis. Rotation of the rotatable arm portion around the axis causes a cam action to actuate a switch to power on and off the headset. The ear bud assembly includes a speaker to play audio, and optionally includes a microphone to receive verbal inputs. The ear bud assembly is coupled to the ear hook assembly so that the ear bud assembly rotates with the rotatable arm portion, and also slides vertically along the axis around which the rotatable arm portion rotates.

  • Publication number: 20150030197
Abstract: A device (400) includes a device hook receiver (503). The device hook receiver defines a port (707) to an acoustic chamber (1103) disposed within the device. An ear hook (403) includes a device hook (502). The device hook attaches to the device hook receiver and at least partially visibly obscures the port. The device hook also provides separation between an outer surface (1303) of the device hook and the port.

  • Publication number: 20130322646
Abstract: An improved wireless headset assembly 102 can be provided for wireless communications with an electronic communications device 104. The wireless headset assembly can comprise a boom 112 which pivots about an ear stem 108 of a shaft 106 for moving an earpiece 110 from a closed compact position to an open use position and vice versa. A power tact switch 114 can activate the wireless headset assembly when the earpiece is moved to the open use position and can deactivate power in the wireless headset assembly when the earpiece is moved to the closed compact position. A sensing switch 116 can be operatively connected to the ear stem for detecting the position and direction of the earpiece.

  • Publication number: 20100127954
Abstract: Disclosed are display form factor devices having a first orientation and a second orientation, such a device including a display screen that is viewable from a plurality of positions. The display screen can be moved with respect to the first orientation and/or the second orientation. The display screen in accordance with a controller is configured to exhibit indicia having a particular orientation thereon, wherein the indicia having a particular orientation is dependent upon which of the at least one of a plurality of positions that is assumed by the screen body. For example, a particular orientation may be a reflective mode or a normal mode. A method of the device includes changing the particular orientation of the indicia based upon the position of the screen body. Sensed ambient conditions can provide input to determine the position of the screen body.

  • Patent number: 6767256
Abstract: A cigarette lighter adaptor for a portable electronic device is provided. The adaptor includes a handle and dongle coupled together by way of a mechanical stepper joint. The stepper joint includes a hinge that engages to resist angular forces applied to the handle relative to the dongle. In one preferred embodiment, the stepper joint includes a convex member with protruding members that act as gear teeth. The stepper joint has a corresponding concave member with détentes. When assembled, these features create the détente positions for the stepper joint. The détente positions are accomplished by allowing the dongle to translate along the axis of the adaptor away from the handle. The stepper joint is preferably held together with an elastic member wrapped about a pin within the stepper joint.
