  • Publication number: 20120231366
Abstract: A fuel cell anode comprises a porous ceramic molten metal composite of a metal or metal alloy, for example, tin or a tin alloy, infused in a ceramic where the metal is liquid at the temperatures of an operational solid oxide fuel cell, exhibiting high oxygen ion mobility. The anode can be employed in a SOFC with a thin electrolyte that can be a ceramic of the same or similar composition to that infused with the liquid metal of the porous ceramic molten metal composite anode. The thicknesses of the electrolyte can be reduced to a minimum that allows greater efficiencies of the SOFC thereby constructed.

  • Patent number: 7663504
Abstract: An emergency vehicle transmits a Vehicle Present Signal when in transit on public roads responding to an emergency. The signal can include information relating to the type of emergency vehicle, local highway and terrain data, and the location, speed and direction of travel of the emergency vehicle. When the Vehicle Present Signal is detected by a first vehicle, a functional circuit within the first vehicle calculates the distance between the emergency vehicle and the first vehicle. If the vehicles are within a predetermined distance, a warning signal activates one or more warning systems, thereby notifying the driver of the first vehicle that an emergency vehicle is in the vicinity. A dead-band defined by first and second predetermined distances can be incorporated to prevent rapid cycling of the warning signal.

  • Patent number: 7506170
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for providing secure access to multiple secure networks from a single workstation. The architecture can use multiple layers of protection to isolate applications running at different security levels. The first means of isolation is a virtual machine monitor that isolates multiple operating systems running within separate virtual machines on the host operating system. The second layer is the use of multiple user security contexts on the host operating system to isolate each virtual machine. The third level of protection is a highly secured and restricted host operating system where all unnecessary services are removed and user actions are restricted to just the virtual machine monitor using software restriction policies. Finally, the operating system and virtual machine monitor can be run from read-only media to prevent any changes by an attacker from persisting.
