Patent number: 11614720Abstract: An aerosol delivery device is provided that includes a power source, a heating element, a switch coupled to and between the power source and the heating element, and processing circuitry coupled to the switch. The processing circuitry outputs a PWM signal during a heating time period to cause the switch to switchably connect and disconnect the output voltage to the heating element to power the heating element. The processing circuitry outputs a pulse of known current to the heating element, and measure voltage across the heating element, between adjacent pulses of the PWM signal. And the processing circuitry calculates the resistance of the heating element based on the known current and the voltage, calculates the temperature of the heating element based on the resistance, and adjusts a duty cycle of the PWM signal when the temperature deviates from a predetermined target.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2019Date of Patent: March 28, 2023Assignee: RAI Strategic Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Charles Jacob Novak, III, Sean A. Patent number: 11592793Abstract: An aerosol delivery device is provided. The aerosol delivery device includes a power source, an aerosol production component, a sensor to produce measurements of atmospheric air pressure in an air flow path through at least one housing, and a switch coupled to and between the power source and the aerosol production component. The aerosol delivery device also includes processing circuitry that determines a difference between the measurements of atmospheric air pressure and a reference atmospheric air pressure. Only when the difference is at least a threshold difference, the processing circuitry outputs a signal to cause the switch to switchably connect and disconnect an output voltage from the power source to the aerosol production component to adjust power provided to the aerosol production component to a power target that is variable according to a predetermined relationship between the difference and the power target.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2019Date of Patent: February 28, 2023Assignee: RAI Strategic Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Charles Jacob Novak, III, Sean A. Publication number: 20230004216Abstract: Techniques of tracking a user's gaze includes identifying a region of a display at which a gaze of a user is directed, the region including a plurality of pixels. By determining a region rather than a point, when the regions correspond to elements of a user interface, the improved technique enables a system to activate the element to which a determined region is selected. In some implementations, the system makes the determination using a classification engine including a convolutional neural network; such an engine takes as input images of the user's eye and outputs a list of probabilities that the gaze is directed to each of the regions.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2021Publication date: January 5, 2023Inventors: Ivana Tosic Rodgers, Sean Ryan Francesco Fanello, Sofien Bouaziz, Rohit Kumar Pandey, Eric Aboussouan, Adarsh Prakash Murthy Kowdle

Publication number: 20220317576Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and a method in which off-droplet measurements instead of on-droplet measurements of prepulse energy are used for pulse energy control. Prepulse energy is measured during an off-droplet nonexposure period and controlled to a prepulse energy setpoint. The prepulse energy can then be controlled open-loop to the prepulse energy setpoint during on-droplet periods. This effectively decouples the EUV dose control loop from the prepulse energy control loop and avoids negative side effects of coupling such loops, for example, loss of the part of the dose adjustment range available to the dose controller.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2020Publication date: October 6, 2022Inventors: Matthew Ryan Graham, Spencer Rich, Sean W.
