Abstract: A method and apparatus for associating documents with classification values and ranking documents based on classification weights is provided. It is determined if a document is associated a classification. If the document is associated with a classification, then it is determined if a classification value, which is associated with the document, is associated with a weight. If the classification value is associated with a weight, then a rank of the document is adjusted based on the weight that is associated with the classification value.

Abstract: A query is annotated with a small sketch (e.g. a Bloom filter) that approximates a set of interest that is related to the query. The query and sketch may be forwarded to index servers that each stores a portion of a search engine corpus. Each of the index servers may filter documents using the sketch before returning results for aggregation. The sketch is designed so there may be false positives (results returned by authors not in the set), but no false negatives (all relevant results are returned). The final aggregated results set may be checked against the full set to remove false positives before returning the final results to the user.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for searching microblog entries. The microblog entries may be generated through a single microblog website or across multiple microblog sites. Upon receiving a search input, a series of microblog entries responsive to the search input may be displayed to the user. The displayed microblog entries may be the most recently generated microblog entries that are responsive to the search input. In another embodiment, the microblog entries returned are a best match to the search criteria, which may be based on a user authority score for a user that drafted a microblog entry and additional characteristics of the microblog entry.

One or more judgments may be created and stored in the custom directory in association with documents in the categories of the custom directory. Each judgment expresses whether a document is in or not in a category, or locked out of all categories. Modifications to the master directory are automatically propagated to the custom directory, according to the mapping, but without overriding the judgments in the custom directory.
