Patent number: 11104252Abstract: A vehicle seating assembly having a housing assembly coupled to a seat frame with a transverse member. A cushion pan extends between the transverse member and a cross bar. A cushion nose extends between the transverse member and a front portion of the housing assembly. A gas-generating device is deployable in response to a sudden vehicle deceleration to exert a force on the cushion nose to rotate the cushion nose about an axis defined by a transverse member from a first position to a second position.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2019Date of Patent: August 31, 2021Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Johnathan Andrew Line, Spencer Hoernke, Marcos Silva Kondrad, Sean West, Benjamin Yilma, Edward Joseph DeSmet, S. Patent number: 10913444Abstract: An improved power system architecture for a hybrid electric vehicle includes a power control unit including a motor inverter, a generator inverter, and a DC-to-DC converter, and vehicle power management (VPM) circuitry directly connected to each of the motor inverter, generator inverter, and DC-to-DC converter. In this arrangement, communication timing is greatly reduced, thereby allowing for feedforward control of the motor inverter, generator inverter, and DC-to-DC converter. The feedforward control enables the VPM circuitry to predict current influx or draw by a motor and determine the corresponding currents to provide to or from the generator and battery prior to or simultaneously with the actual current influx or draw by the motor. This improves vehicle dynamics and responsiveness, as well as enables complete recapture of braking currents and eliminates the need for a brake chopper resistor, thereby improving overall vehicle efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2018Date of Patent: February 9, 2021Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Guozhen Zhou, Long Wu, Kent D. Publication number: 20160009241Abstract: A frontal passenger airbag module is provided in association with the forward part of the instrument panel adjacent the windshield. The module includes a passageway through which the airbag may be deployed. The module is movable between an operational position in which the airbag may be deployed through the a breakaway opening in the instrument panel and a stowed position in which the module is moved vehicle-rearward such that the passageway is no longer adjacent the breakaway opening and the module no longer encroaches on the crush space provided for pedestrian protection. The vehicle includes an impact sensor for determining if an impact event involves a pedestrian. If it is determined by the sensor that a pedestrian has been involved, the module is moved to its stowed position. If it is determined by the sensor that no pedestrian has been involved, then the module remains in its operational position.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Kevin Pline, Brian Robert Spahn, Sean West

Publication number: 20150108744Abstract: A vehicle seating assembly includes a seatback having a forward cushion surface and a back panel. An airbag deployment system is operably coupled to a crash pulse module. A side airbag is disposed between the forward cushion surface and the back panel proximate a side portion of the seatback. A bolster airbag is disposed between the forward cushion surface and the back panel proximate a lower portion of the back panel. A single inflator is in communication with both the side airbag and the bolster airbag. A valve assembly is operably coupled with the single inflator and is in communication with the crash pulse module. The valve assembly is configured to activate at least one of the side airbag and the bolster airbag during a collision event.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2013Publication date: April 23, 2015Applicant: Ford Global Technologies,LLCInventors: Johnathan Andrew Line, Sean West
