  • Publication number: 20240316302
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a tracheostomy exchange system including a catheter comprising a distal end and a proximal end, a balloon fluidly coupled to the distal end of the catheter, and an adapter assembly removably coupleable to the catheter and configured to fluidly couple the balloon with the proximal end of the catheter when the adapter assembly is coupled to the catheter. When the adapter assembly is decoupled from the catheter, the balloon is fluidly sealed from the proximal end of the catheter. When the is inflated before the adapter assembly is decoupled from the catheter, the balloon can remain inflated while the tracheostomy is exchanged preventing aerosolization, protecting the lungs from bleeding and aspiration, allowing for effective oxygenation while preserving an access to the main airway.

  • Patent number: 10399475
Abstract: A headrest assembly includes a headrest bun and first and second side supports coupled to first and second side portions of the headrest bun by first and second hinge assemblies, respectively. The first and second side supports each include respective first and second receiving wells and are operable between retracted and deployed positions relative to the headrest bun. A support member is partially received within the headrest bun and includes first and second locator pins extending outwardly from the first and second side portions of the headrest bun, respectively. The first and second locator pins are received in the first and second receiving wells when the first and second side supports are in the retracted position. The hinge assemblies each include a first pivot axis and a second pivot axis. The side support is rotatable along both the first and second pivot axes relative to the headrest bun.

  • Publication number: 20140091943
Abstract: A method is provided for transmitting data in a resource recovery operation featuring a borehole extending through a geologic formation, an uphole communications control center, and a downhole tool string, a method for transmitting data. The method includes (a) providing a first transceiver which is disposed in an uphole location, and a second transceiver which is in communication with the first transceiver and which is disposed in a downhole location; and (b) transmitting a signal from one of the first and second transceivers to the other of the first and second transceivers, wherein the transmitted signal encodes data using a modified alternating mark (AMI) system in conjunction with balanced line coding.

  • Patent number: 7805316
Abstract: A method of grouping retail units of a set of units in a chain uses store and market-specific characteristics, including store profitability, to group stores into like economic markets. The relation between profits and prices defines markets; stores facing the same relation, that is the same profit function, are in the same economic market. These stores can follow similar pricing and promotion strategies. Multiple regression analysis is used to identify those characteristics that affect the relation between prices and profits (not simply variables correlated with profits). Upon suitable standardization and weighting, these variables are subsequently used with a statistical cluster analysis to classify units in two markets. Based on the estimated relationship and homegenity valuations from discriminant analysis, new stores can be more accurately added to the appropriate group.

  • Publication number: 20100015174
Abstract: A method treats and then prevents a virus for afflicting an animal or a human as a metalloprotein mediates the virus. The method administers systemically a therapeutic pharmacological agent of picolinic acid either singly or with interferons, chemokines or cytokines to fight dengue fever virus. The picolinic acid inactivates the metalloprotein that allows replication of the virus. The picolinic acid has the structure of: where R1, R2, R3, and R4 are mutually exclusive. The viral proteins disintegrate by macrophage proteolytic enzymes stimulated by the picolinic acid.

  • Publication number: 20090241222
Abstract: Methods and compositions reduce growth of Geminiviruses employing a compound with the following structure: or a pharmaceutical salt. The invention inactivates viruses by attacking the zinc finger domain in plants through Picolinic Acid (PA) and then ejecting the Zn2+ from the zinc finger proteins (ZFPs). The PA and derivatives control viruses containing essential ZFPs. A Tandem Repeated Sequence (TRS) technology, denoted the Cassette TRS construct method, produces syngenic plants with increased virus resistance. This technology incorporates into the plant genome tandem repeated stable DNA coding for enzymes that produce PA or derivatives. The increased production of PA, induced by a TRS viral protein promoter present in the Cassette TRS construct, disrupts the viral ZFPs for replication. The syngenic plants with the cassette TRS construct are genetically stable, flower and seed producing, and capable of producing new TRS syngenic plants.
