  • Publication number: 20240228764
Abstract: Disclosed herein are an aqueous dispersion including cationic polyvinyl alcohol modified polymer particles, an aqueous electrocoating material containing the dispersion and a process to produce an at least partially coated substrate using the aqueous electrocoating material. The aqueous dispersion can be prepared by reacting an intermediate including at least one polyvinyl alcohol polymer chain with a compound including at least one epoxide group and a least two blocked primary amino groups. Aqueous coating compositions including the aqueous dispersion result in improved leveling properties during film formation as well as an improved edge protection of the substrate without negatively influencing the surface roughness and adhesion as well as the deposition properties.
    Type: Application
    Filed: February 17, 2022
    Publication date: July 11, 2024
Inventors: Joerg RESSEL, Sebastian FLAMME, Janine JUETTEMEYER, Dirk BENNING, Noel URBAN, Martin GEUTING, Silke PRZYBILLA
