Patent number: 10147918Abstract: A novel retarding mechanism is shown to reduce the inertia of the battery shell during a linear detachment movement from a handle of an appliance, such as a battery powered razor or shaver. The retarding mechanism is based on the interaction between the battery shell found on a lower portion of a razor handle and a battery carrier found within the upper portion of a razor handle. Specifically, an engagement spring having at least one knob type structure is mounted on an interior surface of the battery shell and axially engages protrusions and/or recesses on an exterior surface of the battery carrier during a detachment movement of the battery shell. During opening or detachment of the shell, the engagement of the knob with protrusions produces a retarding force effect of the shell during the linear detachment.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2014Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: The Gillette Company LLCInventors: Cirilo Javier Perez Lopez, Ulrich Fandrey, Michaela Mueller, Andreas Erndt, Sebastian Hottenrott, Philipp Berger

Patent number: 7490408Abstract: An electric-powered shaving apparatus with a drive part excitable by an electric motor into performing an oscillatory motion, the drive part transmitting its motion for cutting hairs to a short-hair cutter and to a long-hair trimmer. The long-hair trimmer is displaceable relative to the housing into an advanced and a retracted position. The motion of the drive part for the short-hair cutter is utilized for moving the long-hair trimmer into the advanced position.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2006Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: Braun GmbHInventors: Reinhold Eichhorn, Detlef Gleich, Sebastian Hottenrott, Peter Junk, Christof Kleemann, Michael Odemer, Thorsten Pohl, Tobias Schwarz, Jürgen Wolf

Publication number: 20080236565Abstract: A hair styling device includes a styling rod and a handle connected with the styling rod, which features a holding device and a pivoting cap connected to the holding device. The cap can be pivoted between an opening and closing position and serves to close the housing for the gas cartridge. The inside of the cap features in the area of its free end contact parts, which are designed to exert, upon closure of the cap, a displacement force on the gas cartridge in axial direction of the device. As a result, by closing the cap, the gas cartridge is moved directly into operating position during which a needle valve is inserted in a valve of the gas cartridge by displacing the gas cartridge. In addition, in the area of its linkage to the holding device, the cap features a clamp which, upon opening of the cap, exerts an axial displacement force on the gas cartridge in longitudinal direction of the device toward the handle's end of the hair styling device and thus brings it into a position of removal.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2006Publication date: October 2, 2008Applicant: BRAUN GMBHInventors: Georg Boeger, Sebastian Hottenrott

Patent number: 7398786Abstract: A cleaning device for the shaving head of a dry shaving apparatus includes a receptacle formed in a housing of the cleaning device. The receptacle adapted to receive the shaving head for cleaning with a cleaning fluid. During the cleaning cycle, the dry shaving apparatus is lockable in the cleaning device by means of an interlock. The shaving head is exposed to heat from a heater for drying subsequent to cleaning. Following a drying cycle, release of the interlock is controlled by a control element provided in the cleaning device to prevent an operator's skin from being burned by an excessively hot shaving head in an immediately succeeding shaving operation.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2005Date of Patent: July 15, 2008Assignee: Braun GmbHInventors: Reinhold Eichhorn, Detlef Gleich, Sebastian Hottenrott, Peter Junk, Christof Kleemann, Michael Odemer, Thorsten Pohl, Tobias Schwarz, Jürgen Wolf
