Publication number: 20240259571Abstract: An apparatus for remote processing of raw image data receives the raw image data from a camera, such as a security camera. The apparatus includes a detection module to detect portions of the image data that contain possible regions of interest. Information indicating the portions that contain the possible regions of interest is then used during a compression process so that the portions that contain the possible regions of interest are compressed using one or more compression algorithms to facilitate further analysis and the remainder are treated differently. The compressed image data is then transmitted to a central system for decompression and further analysis. In some cases, the detection system may detect possible regions of interest which appear to be faces, but without performing full facial recognition. These parts of the image data are then compressed in such a way as to maintain as much facial detail as possible, so as to facilitate the facial recognition when it is carried out at the central server.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2024Publication date: August 1, 2024Applicant: Synaptics IncorporatedInventors: Sebastian Matysik, Peter Burgers

Patent number: 11805278Abstract: A method of processing image data for transmittal to a display device involves receiving a frame of image data, the frame being divided into tile groups composed of tiles of pixels, each having a number of colour component values of a first colour space. Each tile includes a number of colour component planes of the first colour space having the colour component values for the pixels forming the tile. Each tile group is processed in an execution unit, formed by arithmetic logic units (ALUs) and a local shared memory, where each ALU includes dedicated register space for use solely by the ALU, and each tile of each tile group is processed by a number of the ALUs of the execution unit.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2022Date of Patent: October 31, 2023Inventor: Sebastian Matysik

Patent number: 9269334Abstract: A display system comprises a processing device connected to a plurality of display devices, the processing device comprising a processor connected to a system memory and to a graphics processing unit, the graphics processing unit comprising a graphics processor connected to a video memory. A method of operating the system comprises the steps of maintaining a system frame buffer in system memory, creating a shared primary surface in video memory for an additional display device not controlled by the graphics processing unit, rendering the contents of the system frame buffer onto the shared primary surface, rendering any and all directly rendered applications onto the shared primary surface, maintaining a second frame buffer in system memory, copying at least some of the content of the shared primary surface to the second frame buffer, and outputting at least some of the content of the second frame buffer to the additional display device.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2013Date of Patent: February 23, 2016Assignee: DISPLAYLINK (UK) LIMITEDInventors: Piotr Czapla, Sebastian Matysik
