  • Publication number: 20120320777
Abstract: What is provided is a method for communicating with a cellular network. The method is performed by a mobile computing device that comprises a transmitter and a receiver. One or more communication channels are monitored for one or more data packets that are transmitted by a base station of the cellular network during a transmission period. The transmission period can include one or more time slots. The mobile computing device determines whether one or more data packets have been received during a first time slot of the transmission period. In response to determining that no data packet has been received during the first time slot, the mobile computing device switches to an idle state until the transmission period ends.

  • Patent number: 7877092
Abstract: A mobile communication terminal operatively coupled to at least two mobile radio communication systems in respectively associated mobile radio networks, each of which provides a user of the communication terminal with a number of services of different type. The user may thus effect efficient management of the services provided for him by virtue of the communication terminal being designed to receive and effect further processing of data records which are associated with one respective type of the services.

  • Publication number: 20080254806
Abstract: In a radio communication system having network-side and subscriber-side radio stations a frequency band is used for communication respectively by a subset of the network-side radio stations in time slots. The network-side radio stations are coordinated according to which network-side radio station(s) the frequency band can be used in a defined time slot. The network-side radio stations respectively emit a message containing a number having a value depending on the radio traffic range expected by the respective network-side radio station for the defined time slot.

  • Publication number: 20080175191
Abstract: A method for the packet-switched data transmission in a self-organizing local radio network which has at least one first and one second radio coverage area and at least one mobile communication device per radio coverage area. In the first radio coverage area, a first device, and in the second radio coverage area, a second device are operated for the central control of the assignment of transmission channels associated with the respective radio coverage area. A mobile communication device in the first and in the second radio coverage area is operated as an intermediate station for forwarding data originating from the first radio coverage area to the second radio coverage area.

  • Publication number: 20070248175
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for generating preamble structures and signaling structures for a data signal in a MIMO-OFDM transmission system with a multitude of antennas. To this end, the preamble structure has, for each antenna, a synchronization section with a predetermined synchronization sequence and has a channel estimation section with a predetermined channel estimation sequence. The synchronization sequences fulfill equations (I) and (II). Alternatively, the channel estimation sequence can fulfill equation (III). This makes it possible to realize efficient and downlink compatible MIMO transmission systems.

  • Publication number: 20070147313
Abstract: The invention relates to method for producing a link between a person requesting a service (Client) and a service provider (Server) 3 in a decentralized mobile radio network with a service/service provider search service (Service Discovery) wherein the person requesting the service (Client) sends a Service Discovery Request in the form of a multicast message to locally adjacent stations of the decentralized mobile radio network in order to localize an as yet unknown service provider (Server) who can provide the desired service, said stations being IP routers, and said stations forward the multicast message to neighboring stations thereof before finally forwarding it to the service provider (Server) who replies with a Service Discovery Reply. The message is characterized in that the routing information of the Service Discovery Request and the Service Discovery Reply are added to the routing tables of the stations in order to retrace the way back to the person requiring the service (Client).

  • Patent number: 6885875
Abstract: According to the invention, transmissions of the second radio station are received in the first radio station in which the operating instruction for transmission power of the second radio station is determined. The operating instruction is transmitted during a following transmission of the first radio station to the second radio station, whereupon the latter takes into account the operating instruction for power regulation during one of its following transmissions. Contrary to prior art, no time invariable or fixed step size is used. An operating instruction is used instead which is related to a variable step size in transmission power regulation. The variable step size is subscriber-dependent and time-dependent regulated by the radio stations.

  • Patent number: 5553060
Abstract: A method for setting up virtual connections in packet switching networks is disclosed wherein a virtual connection within a second packet switching network is used to maintain or create a virtual connection between subscriber equipment with a first packet switching network. Signaling equipment located within first packet switching network, but which is not directly connected to the subscriber equipment, employs the signaling protocol of the second packet switching network when initiating the second virtual connection so that it is not necessary for the second packet switching network to recognize a specific signaling protocol.
