  • Publication number: 20140139581
Abstract: A reproduction apparatus for printing a digital image includes a control unit and a print engine. The digital image is constituted of pixels, each having assigned a pixel value. The print engine includes print elements for ejecting an amount of marking material on a receiving material according to a pixel value. The reproduction apparatus includes a detector for detecting a failing print element and the control unit includes a derivation unit for deriving, before printing of the digital image for a print element, at least one array of pixel values to be printed by at least one other print element, upon detection of a failing of the print element by the detector. A merging unit is configured to merge at least one of the at least one array of pixel values with the digital image, upon detection of a failing print element, for creating a corrected digital image.

  • Publication number: 20120140260
Abstract: A method for composing a global histogram of the values of the pixels of a hardcopy original includes a division of a detection area, which may be larger than the original, in stripes. For each of the stripes, a local histogram is made, which is added to a candidate histogram. If the decision is made from the values of the local histogram that a stripe belongs to the original, the candidate histogram is added to the global histogram. In this way, a representative histogram of the original is obtained, even if the white pixels from the original are indiscernible from the white pixels from the cover of the scanner. The method is embodied in an electronic component, including an application specific processing unit.

  • Publication number: 20090141307
Abstract: A document scanning system includes a scan apparatus adapted to scan a document and to create and store electronic raw data representing the scanned document. An input system permits a user to input settings for the scanned document. A start mechanism causes the scan apparatus to start a scan process. A a processing unit is adapted to process the raw data and to create a formatted document file representing the scanned document. The input system is adapted to permit the user to input format settings for a document after the start mechanism has started the scan process for that document, and the processing unit is adapted to process the raw data in accordance with the format settings.
