Patent number: 11839926Abstract: The present invention relates to a blade guide and a blade guide assembly for adjusting an elongate blade of a sawmill, where the blade having a longitudinal axis. The blade guide includes a guide with a blade surface for lateral contact with the blade, a shaft extending from the guide, a shaft block having a bore extending therethrough, the bore dimensioned to slidably receive the shaft therethrough, and a trunnion block pivotably coupled to the shaft block about a pivot. The pivot is orientated generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the blade, and the trunnion block is adapted to be securable to the sawmill. Thus, pivoting the shaft block and, thereby, the shaft relative to the trunnion block, causes the guide to pivot and angularly adjust the blade about the longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2021Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: Norwood Industries Inc.Inventors: Ashlynne Dale, Sebastien Cabrit

Publication number: 20230053108Abstract: A braking system for a rotating member has a lever with an apex where a first arm meets a second arm. The apex is rotationally secured to a support. A band wraps around the circumference of an end of the rotating member. A first end of the band is secured to the support. A second end of the band is secured to the second arm. A resilient member is secured to the first arm and the support. An actuator is secured to the first arm. The resilient member biases the first arm, placing the band in frictional engagement with the circumference of the rotating member, and activation of the actuator directs the first arm, which relieves the frictional engagement of the band with the circumference of the rotating member. The actuator may be connected to a throttle or a brake control.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2022Publication date: February 16, 2023Inventors: Sebastien CABRIT, Ashlynne DALE, Daniel VANDERHEYDEN

Publication number: 20220260199Abstract: A laminated rail for a sawmill bed comprises an outer plate having a middle body portion, a top portion, and a bottom portion; and an inner plate secured to the outer plate, the inner plate having a middle body portion, a top portion, and a bottom portion. The middle body portion of each of the inner plate and the outer plate may have substantially the same cross sectional tacking configuration to allow the inner plate to be matingly received by the outer plate. A channel may be formed between the top portion of the inner plate and the top portion of the outer plate, the channel being shaped and dimensioned to receive and secure a track in a sandwich grip.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2022Publication date: August 18, 2022Inventors: Ashlynne Dale, Sebastien Cabrit

Publication number: 20220168919Abstract: The present subject matter relates to a log dog, a kit thereof, a set bar assembly, and a log bed with the log dog and set bar assembly. The log dog includes a rod with a groove, and a head block with a cylindrical cavity for receiving the groove and with a bore extending through the sidewall. A pin extends through the bore to the cylindrical cavity for rotatable engagement with the groove to releasably hold the head block to the rod. The set bar assembly includes a pair of mounting brackets with a holder having lower and upper sections. A support bar is secured between the mounting brackets and a pivot arm extends from the support bar. The set bar assembly includes a stop bar received in the holder, wherein moving the stop bar between the lower and upper sections of the holder lowers and raises the pivot arm.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2021Publication date: June 2, 2022Inventor: Sebastien CABRIT

Publication number: 20220080615Abstract: The present invention relates to a support assembly, a sawhead, and a kit for forming the support assembly for retaining a motor relative to a drive bandwheel and a free bandwheel in a sawmill. The support assembly comprises a first platform orientated on a first plane, where the first platform securable to an axle of the drive bandwheel. The support assembly comprises a second platform orientated on a second plane, where the second platform securable to an axle of the free bandwheel. The support assembly also comprises a centre platform coupled to, and between, the first and second platforms, where the centre platform is orientated on a third plane that is vertically spaced apart from the first and second planes. The centre platform is configured to support the motor above the axles of the drive bandwheel and the free bandwheel.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2021Publication date: March 17, 2022Inventors: Ashlynne DALE, Sebastien CABRIT

Patent number: 10843370Abstract: A method for constructing a lower section of a sawmill carriage assembly comprises holding structural components between a pair of metal plates, and affixing the plates and the structural components together. The structural components may include wheels that guide the sawhead in linear movement along a track on a sawmill bed, to which the carriage base is attached. The structural components may also include a track cleaning system disposed between the metal plates. The track cleaning system maintains optimal track conditions.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2018Date of Patent: November 24, 2020Assignee: Norwood Industries Inc.Inventors: Sebastien Cabrit, Ashlynne Dale, Brian Shellswell

Publication number: 20070227854Abstract: A pump mechanism for a vertical seat lift assembly includes a control handle pivotable in each direction from a neutral position, a stationary housing assembly, a rotatable drive member for operating the vehicle lift assembly, a clutch assembly operably connecting the drive member to the housing assembly to selectively permit rotation of the drive member relative to the housing assembly in either direction, and control assembly operably connecting the control handle to the clutch assembly to selectively rotate the drive member. The control assembly is located radially outward of the clutch assembly so that the control assembly does not increase the thickness of the pump mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2006Publication date: October 4, 2007Inventors: Sebastien Cabrit, Farouk Bouzid, Luc Terrenoire
