  • Publication number: 20230269250
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to internet of things (IoT) onboarding. A device may initiate the device with an internet of things (IoT) IoT provisioning profile. The device may identify an advertisement of openroaming framework received from an IoT deployment site access network. The device may initiate association and authentication with the IoT deployment site access network using information included in the IoT provisioning profile. The device may perform extensive authentication protocol (EAP) using the IoT provisioning profile. The device may identify a network access granted message from the IoT deployment site access network.

  • Publication number: 20230143696
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices for OpenRoaming networks. A device may be installed, during a pre-provisioning process, with an activation profile on the STA for one-time use with OpenRoaming networks; identify, after the pre-provisioning process, a first OpenRoaming network within range of the STA; transmit, to a first access point (AP), a first authentication request for the first OpenRoaming network, the first authentication request including an indication of the activation profile; identify a first authentication response received from the first AP, the first authentication request granting access of the STA to the first OpenRoaming network; and access the first OpenRoaming network based on the first authentication response. Following successful association and authentication with the OpenRoaming network, a process for establishing a user profile on the device may be triggered for future connections to OpenRoaming networks.

  • Publication number: 20220124167
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to a mechanism to enable a federated onboarding service in an OpenRoaming™ framework. A device may receive a prompt to initiate onboarding of the device to a framework. The device may the initiate a federated onboarding service process at an access network provider (ANP) that is connected to the device, wherein the federated onboarding service process is configured to onboard the device to the framework. The device may further receive a list of available identity providers (IdPs) configured for the framework and receive a selection of an IdP of the list of available IdPs. The device may then establish a connection between the IdP and the device. The device may receive an IdP-generated user-specific profile, and the device may connect to the framework using the user-specific profile.

  • Publication number: 20170289900
Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, apparatus, and systems related to devices (e.g., a smart AP) learning and/or estimating the resources required by client devices (e.g., an STA). This can be done, for example, by monitoring the informational statistics of the client device, such as the client device's traffic pattern and behavior. This information can be used to efficiently allocate resources and dynamically update the resources as needed, hence optimizing the limited resources available on the device and/or the client device.
