  • Patent number: 6387861
Abstract: A detergent tablet for fabric washing is compacted from a particulate composition containing detergent active compound, detergency builder, a bleach system comprising coated sodium percarbonate and at least one bleach activator, and optionally other detergent ingredients, where the tablet comprises a plurality of discrete regions, and wherein the bleach activator and the coated sodium percarbonate are concentrated in respective different regions of the tablet. This separation of activator and percarbonate increases the stability of the bleach activator.

  • Patent number: 6303558
Abstract: A particulate detergent composition or component of high bulk density (at least 600 g/l), comprising at least 10% by weight of detergent surfactant and from 10 to 70% by weight of detergency builder, is composed of at least two, and preferably at least three, different granular components: (i) granules comprising at least 60% by weight of anionic surfactant, (ii) granules comprising at least 20% by weight of nonionic surfactant, and less than 10% by weight of aluminosilicate. (iii)optionally, granules comprising detergency builder.

  • Patent number: 6262010
Abstract: A particulate free-flowing laundry detergent composition comprises at least two different granular components: a granular component containing anionic surfactant, and a granular nonionic surfactant component comprising from 20 to 30 wt % of nonionic surfactant on a non-spray-dried particulate carrier material comprising sodium sesquicarbonate. The nonionic surfactant component is preferably prepared by in-situ neutralisation of sodium carbonate with a water-soluble organic acid in the presence of the nonionic surfactant, in a high- or moderate-shear mixer.

  • Patent number: 6242403
Abstract: A detergent tablet of compressed particulate composition, and a process of making such a tablet, wherein the tablet or a region thereof comprises organic detergent and detergency builder and the tablet or region thereof is compacted from a composition which contains: (A) particles containing at least 60% by weight of non-soap anionic detergent (B) particles containing at least 80% of their own weight of one or more water-soluble materials selected from compounds with a water-solubility exceeding 50 grams per 100 grams water at 20° C.; and sodium tripolyphosphate containing at least 50% of its own weight of the phase I anhydrous form.

  • Patent number: 6191095
Abstract: A particulate detergent composition having a bulk density of 700 g/l or less and containing at least 10 wt % (preferably at least 15 wt %) of organic detergent surfactant comprises a base powder composed of at least two granular components. Less than 80% by weight, preferably less than 66% by weight, of the base powder has a compressibility (measured at 20-25° C. and about 40% relative humidity) of 17% or more. Preferably one of the components of the base powder is a granule containing a high level (at least 60 wt %) of anionic surfactant.

  • Patent number: 5719111
Abstract: A detergent block of compressed granular material is provided, said block having a weight of 0.2-10 kg, being substantially free of phoshate builder material, and comprising a granulated builder material, an alkaline agent and a compressing aid. A process is also provided for preparing a block of compressed granular material being substantially free of a phosphate builder and having a weight of 0.2 to 10 kg, said process involving the steps of(i) granulating a non-phosphate builder material, with 0.1-10% by weight based on the weight of the builder of a co-ingredient selected from polycarboxylic polymer solutions, alkali metal silicate solutions, and mixtures thereof;and(ii) compressing a particulate mixture of said granulated builder material and other components of the block, including a compressing aid, in a mould under a pressure of 3-30 kN/cm.sup.2.
