  • Publication number: 20050264378
Abstract: The present invention is a filter and a method of making a filter to remove unwanted frequency harmonics associated with current filters. The filter is made up of resonators, such that the filter resonates a design frequency. Whereby, at least two resonators are coupled together between an input and an output and at least one of the resonators is of a different design from other resonators, such that the resonator of a different design resonates the same design frequency as the other resonators and resonates different higher order harmonic frequencies than the other resonators. The present invention also provides methods of improving skirt response for a filter, as well as other response properties of the filter. One way to improve the filter's properties is where at least one of the resonators in a filter is reversed in orientation as compared to the other resonators.

  • Publication number: 20020180559
Abstract: A new type of dielectric resonator loaded metal cavity filters that are compact and resonate only the desired frequency, along with a method of making such filters. The more compact dielectric resonator loaded metal cavity filter is made by a method of stacking resonator loaded cavities into a filter. A method of making a dielectric resonator filter or duplexer filter which inhibits the undesired higher order harmonics from passing through the filter. Whereby, the method for inhibiting higher order harmonics includes differentiating sizes of the dielectric resonator and metal cavity as compare to other cavities in the filter to prevent the passage of undesired higher order harmonics through the filter.

  • Patent number: 5993895
Abstract: A method for densifying a dielectric antiferroelectric material includes the steps of adding a compound which includes lithium to the dielectric material to create a mixture thereof. Thereafter, the mixture is heated to a temperature of not greater than about 1100.degree. C. for a predetermined period to densify the mixture. It is preferred that the lithium compound be a lithium salt and that the dielectric material comprise a PLZT composition.

  • Patent number: 5728138
Abstract: A cardiac defibrillator includes a multilayer capacitor with a plurality of conductive electrodes and interspersed dielectric layers, each dielectric layer composed of constituents which cause it to exhibit an antiferroelectric phase. The constituents of each dielectric layer are such as to cause each layer to exhibit plural ferroelectric phases. The defibrillator includes a charging circuit for applying to the capacitor an electric field across each dielectric layer which causes a transition thereof through the plural ferroelectric phases. PLZT is the preferred dielectric material, at constituent values which cause the material to lie within the antiferroelectric phase and to exhibit plural ferroelectric phases.

  • Patent number: 5032805
Abstract: An electrically controlled RF phase shifter having an active medium formed rom a ceramic material the permittivity of which may be varied by varying the strength of an electric field in which it is immersed. The phase shifter includes the ceramic material having electrodes mounted thereon that are connected to an adjustable d-c voltage source. The phase shifter may be placed in an RF transmission line that includes appropriate input and output impedance matching devices such as quarter-wave transformers. The phase of the RF power exiting the phase shifter will depend on the effective electrical length of the material in the active medium. Because changes in the permittivity of the material will produce corresponding changes in the electrical length of the material, changes in the phase of the RF power transmitted therein will be produced. The quarter-wave transformers may also be made of a similar adjustable permittivity material.

  • Patent number: 4389229
Abstract: Undeposited reactants (i.e., soot) passing through a glass substrate tube (12), during the fabrication of a lightguide perform by the Modified Chemical Vapor Deposition (MCVD) process, flow into a reactant exhaust system (50) and are carried therethrough by a uniformly flowing reactant-free gas. The reactants pass through an exhaust tube (52), a reactant collection chamber (54), through a pressure control apparatus (56;114) and into a gas scrubber. The pressure within the exhaust system (50) is maintained substantially constant during the MCVD process by continuously monitoring the pressure therein and adjusting the pressure control apparatus (56;114) accordingly. Additionally, a continuous, uniform flow of soot-free gas is directed into the exhaust system to assist in the removal of the undeposited reactants therefrom.
