Abstract: A netting service provider determines, on the basis of payment information from netting service participants, the value of security each of the participants is required to deposit. The netting service participants determine the sums to be settled by multilateral setoffs within the extent of the values of the respective securities, and deliver the settlement sums to one another. However, any payment the inclusion of which would cause the settlement sum to exceed the value of the security is made subject to determination by a bilateral setoff, and the sums so settled are delivered between the participants concerned. Further, in order to demonstrate the legitimacy of payment information which is denied by both the buyer and the seller who are netting service participants, payment information is counterchecked by an electronic notarial institution.
