  • Patent number: 5474145
Abstract: A hydraulic power steering system includes a pump, a flow control valve, and a bypass control valve. The flow control valve responds to a pressure drop across a metering orifice disposed in a fluid supply passage so as to control the flow rate of operational fluid by bypassing part of the operational fluid to a reservoir. A spring chamber of the flow control valve is connected to the supply passage through a control orifice. The bypass control valve is disposed between the spring chamber and the reservoir so as to increase the amount of bypassed fluid by controlling the pressure in the spring chamber. The bypass control valve has a control spool, a load pressure introduction port connected to the upstream side of the control orifice for leading the load pressure to a first end of the control spool and a pilot port connected to the downstream side of the control orifice for leading the pressure in the spring chamber of the flow control valve to a second end of the control spool.

  • Patent number: 5048859
Abstract: A suspension for a steerable driving wheel in a vehicle, in which a wheel supported by a wheel carrier rotatable around a steering axis is driven by a drive shaft and braked by a brake caliper, includes a hub and a brake disk. The hub has a supported portion rotatably supported by the wheel carrier through a bearing and is unrotatably connected to the drive shaft. The hub attaches the wheel to a portion located more laterally outward of a vehicle body than the supported portion. On the other hand, the brake disk for generating a braking force in cooperation with the brake caliper is provided on the hub and disposed more laterally inward of the vehicle body than said supported portion.

  • Patent number: 4869623
Abstract: A broaching method for finishing an outer peripheral surface of a resin layer of a resin-coated lobe-type rotor for a rotary fluid machine of a Roots type, which includes the steps of forming, with a leading grooving cutter, at least one chip-breaker groove in the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer, such that the chip-breaker groove extends in a broaching direction parallel to an axis of rotation of the rotor. The method further includes the steps of finishing at least a portion of the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer with a trailing finish cutter having a cutting edge contour corresponding to the portion of the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer, which is finished by the finish cutter after the chip-breaker groove is formed therein by the grooving cutter. A composite broach or formed broach having the grooving and finish cutters is fed such that the grooving cutter leads the finish cutter in the broaching direction.

  • Patent number: 4305263
Abstract: A constant velocity universal joint wherein its outer race has a larger radius of curvature than its inner race at the transverse sectional surface of the ball rolling groove at the point of contact between the ball and the ball rolling groove. Concave and convex surface portions of a ball rolling groove have a characteristic such that when the inner and outer races have the same radius of curvature at the transverse sectional surface of the ball rolling groove, the contact stress of the ball rolling groove of the outer race becomes lower than that of the inner race. By varying the radius of curvature on the transverse sectional surface of the ball rolling groove of the outer race from that of the inner race to render the contact stresses of the two grooves equal to each other, it is possible to facilitate working of the grooves and yet to achieve the same degree of precision finishes as has hitherto been achieved.
