  • Patent number: 11181050
Abstract: A driving-side rotating body that rotates synchronously with a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, a driven-side rotating body that is allowed to rotate relative to the driven-side rotating body and that rotates integrally with a camshaft that opens and closes an intake valve, and a phase adjustment mechanism for setting a relative rotation phase of the driving-side rotating body and the driven-side rotating body using a driving force of an electric motor are included. The phase adjustment mechanism is configured to be able to execute retarding control for setting the relative rotation phase to the retarding side until reaching a phase in which the internal combustion engine cannot be started and autonomous running is not possible even if fuel injection and ignition are performed in the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 11156170
Abstract: A control device for an internal combustion engine includes an internal combustion engine and a valve opening-closing timing control device. The valve opening-closing timing control device has a phase adjustment mechanism for setting a relative rotation phase of a driving-side rotator and a driven-side rotator. The phase adjustment mechanism overlaps a timing of opening an intake valve with a timing of opening an exhaust valve, by setting, in a predetermined period, the relative rotation phase such that the exhaust valve closes after a top dead center position has been reached, and a bypass passage is provided that connects an exhaust passage of one cylinder that is in an exhaust process to the exhaust passage of another cylinder that is in an intake process at the same time as the exhaust process.

  • Publication number: 20200182163
Abstract: The internal combustion engine includes: a plurality of cylinders each including a piston that reciprocally operates in association with rotation of a crankshaft, and an intake valve and an exhaust valve that open and close a combustion chamber; a starter motor that drives and rotates the crankshaft; and a valve opening-closing timing control mechanism that sets opening and closing timings of the exhaust valve by driving an electric actuator. If an environmental temperature detected by an environmental temperature sensor is less than 10 degrees below freezing, the control device controls the electric actuator such that the closing timing of the exhaust valve is made different from a top dead center of the piston, at a point in time when cranking is performed, and an initial combustion in one of the plurality of cylinders that is set to be the cylinder in which combustion is performed first is performed.

  • Patent number: 10619588
Abstract: A controller for an internal combustion engine includes: a failure determination section which determines a failure state in a case where a relative rotation phase of an intake side valve opening and closing timing control mechanism does not change when controlling the mechanism after starting the driving of a starter motor and trying to change the relative rotation phase of the mechanism in a start control for starting an internal combustion engine. When the section determines a failure, the controller performs at least one of an intake air amount increase control in which an opening degree of a throttle valve is increased, an ignition timing advance angle control in which injection of fuel is performed at a timing earlier than a set timing and ignition is performed, and a multi-injection control in which the fuel is injected immediately before the ignition in addition to the fuel injection in an intake stroke.

  • Publication number: 20200072131
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes: an intake control valve provided on an upstream side of a fuel injection device provided in an intake flow path and configured to adjust an opening degree thereof while maintaining an intake state through the intake flow path; and a controller configured to perform control to adjust the opening degree of the intake control valve, in which the controller is configured to set the intake control valve to a closing direction side such that a pressure between the intake control valve and an intake valve of a combustion chamber increases during a pre-ignition motor drive period until a fuel is supplied to the combustion chamber and first ignited.
