    Abstract: In one aspect, a machine tool having a frame assembly, a first head having a first rotatable workpiece holder, and a second head having a second rotatable workpiece holder. The frame assembly includes a first door movable in a first direction between a first closed position and a first open position and a second door movable in a second direction transverse to the first direction between a second closed position and a second open position. The frame assembly has an access opening sized to permit access to the first and second heads with the first door in the first open position and the second door in the second closed position. The frame assembly has a larger access opening to increase ease of user accessibility to the first and second heads with the first door in the first open position and the second door in the second open position.

The workpiece holding shaft is axially shiftable relative to the workpiece supporting shaft to adjust a position of the workpiece relative to the workpiece supporting shaft. The machine tool further includes a removable workpiece support, such as a guide bushing, configured to be releasably connected to the workpiece supporting shaft and rotate therewith. The workpiece support slidably contacts the workpiece and permits axial movement of the workpiece relative to the workpiece support.

    Abstract: An additive manufacturing machine that includes a wire supply including a wire drive configured to advance a wire at a wire feed rate and a wire heater configured to apply resistive heating to heat the wire. The additive manufacturing machine includes an additive head for emitting a laser beam to weld the wire to a substrate, a sensor configured to detect a weld parameter, and a controller operatively connected to the wire supply, additive head, and sensor. The controller is configured to determine a failure mode of the weld as the laser beam welds the wire to the substrate based at least in part upon the weld parameter. In response to determining the failure mode, the controller is configured to adjust at least one of the wire feed rate, the resistive heating, and a power of the laser beam as the laser beam welds the wire to stabilize the weld.

    Abstract: A low power consumption type tape reader permits miniaturization of reel motors and ensures stopping a tape (3) at a first rewind stop code, even if the response of a brake magnet (11) is somewhat poor. When a rewind command is received, the rotational speed of a capstan motor (12) is switched from a forward low speed to a reverse low speed, and then a feed magnet (14) is actuated to rewind the tape (3). The rotational speed of the capstan motor (12) is gradually increased to a reverse high speed. When a rewind stop code is detected, the speed of the capstan motor (12) is gradually decreased to the reverse low speed, and then the brake magnet (11) is actuated to stop the feed of the tape (3) temporarily. A reversible counter (40) stores the number of rewind stop codes detected during the time interval between the detection of the first rewind stop code and the temporary stopping of the feed of the tape (3).

The stored content of the semiconductor memory can be protected against destruction which would otherwise result from application of a power supply voltage upon connection or disconnection between the memory cassette and the adapter.

Provided are means for generating a signal indicating that a read or write operation is in progress, a locking mechanism for locking a cassette ejecting mechanism to render the latter inoperable, and a drive circuit responsive to the generated signal for actuating the locking mechanism to prevent ejection of the memory cassette until the read or write operation is completed.

    Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the writing of data from a processor into a memory having different read and write times, wherein the memory is connected directly to the processor through address and data buses without the use of an input/output port. A timer circuit is connected to the buses and memory and is controlled by the processor to produce a write timing signal which controls the writing of data into the memory. The processor is placed in a holding state, based on the write timing signal, for a period long enough to assure that the data will be written into the memory in its entirety.
