    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for regenerating a palladium-containing metal supported catalyst which has been used for production of an ?,?-unsaturated carboxylic acid from an olefin or an ?,?-unsaturated aldehyde. Specifically disclosed is a method for regenerating a palladium-containing metal supported catalyst which has been used for production of an ?,?-unsaturated carboxylic acid by oxidation of an olefin or an ?,?-unsaturated aldehyde with molecular oxygen in a liquid phase, which comprises a step of calcining a palladium-containing metal supported catalyst after use at a temperature in a range of from 150 to 700° C. in the presence of molecular oxygen to convert at least a part of palladium into palladium oxide, and a step of reducing the palladium oxide thus obtained in the calcining step.
