Patent number: 7332244Abstract: A battery case is formed by juxtaposing a plurality of electrode plate group housing chambers. An electrolyte-impregnated electrode plate group is housed in each of the housing chambers. A side plate is arranged in abutment with each side face of the battery case. The respective side faces are faced with the openings of the electrode plate group housing chambers. This makes it possible to close the openings of the electrode plate group housing chambers. Thus, the cells and the battery module are fabricated concurrently.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2002Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Seiichi Uemoto, Kenji Kimura

Publication number: 20040197652Abstract: In a nonaqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery in which a positive electrode plate (1) and a negative electrode plate (2) are superimposed with a separator (3) interposed between them, and are accommodated in a battery case (4) together with electrolyte, corona discharge treatment is performed on the positive electrode material (1a) or the manufactured positive electrode plate (1). Improved affinity between the positive electrode material (1a) of the positive electrode plate (1) and the electrolyte shortens the pouring time of the electrolyte and enables the lithium ions (10) to easily reach the surface of the positive electrode material (1a), thereby improving the charging/discharging characteristic of the battery.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2004Publication date: October 7, 2004Applicant: MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD.Inventors: Kenji Kimura, Keisuke Omori, Seiichi Uemoto

Patent number: 6156452Abstract: A collector terminal for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, especially a large-size battery, is provided which is free from breakage when its exterior terminal is fastened with a nut with an excessive torque, superior in electrical conductivity, and high in reliability. The section of the collector terminal forming an exterior terminal and the section where lead plates taken out from the electrode group consist of different types of metals, which are integrated by solid-phase bonding or by vacuum brazing. Among the solid-phase bonding methods, diffusion bonding, explosion pressure welding, and friction bonding are effective.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1999Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Assignee: Matsushita Electric Indsutrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kiyomi Kozuki, Seiichi Uemoto, Takabumi Fujii
