Patent number: 6321566Abstract: Liquid oxygen, which is extracted from the bottom of a lower pressure rectifier and compressed by a liquid oxygen pump to a predetermined supply pressure, is evaporated in a main heat exchanger to prepare an oxygen gas product, while oxygen gas is circulated in the main heat exchanger at a linear velocity which is equal to or higher than the terminal velocity, calculated depending on the supply pressure, of an oxygen droplet having a diameter of 200 &mgr;m. This process effectively prevents precipitation of heavy impurities in the heat exchanger and produces higher pressure oxygen gas at reduced operational costs.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2000Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko Sho.Inventors: Seiichi Yamamoto, Kazuhiko Asahara, Masayuki Tanaka

Patent number: 6303973Abstract: A power transistor comprising a collector region formed in a semiconductor substrate, a base region formed within the collector region, and a hoop-shaped emitter region formed within the base region. The hoop-shaped emitter region divides the base region into an external section and at least one internal section surrounded by the emitter region on the substrate surface, the external and internal base sections being connected within the substrate. A base contact is formed on the surface of each internal base section surrounded by the emitter region. By this design, the electric current is more uniform within the emitter region, and safe operating area (SOA) destruction can be prevented. The invention is also directed to semiconductor integrated circuit devices using the above power transistor, and a method of forming the same.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1999Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: Rohm Co., Ltd.Inventors: Eiji Nakagawa, Seiichi Yamamoto

Patent number: 6111937Abstract: This invention is characterized by providing an apparatus for automatically discriminating service users which can prevent troubles from occurring between the service provider and users because of difference in language. When the service provider has a call from a user, the service provider makes an announcement to the user to request the voicing of a specific keyword. If an answer by the keyword is made from the user, it is determined whether or not it is an answer by the correct keyword. If correct, the call is connected to the service provider. If not correct, how to use the service is announced in another language. Then, the line is disconnected. As a result, a user who is weak in the language used by the service provider can be prevented from being connected to the service provider.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1997Date of Patent: August 29, 2000Assignee: Kokusai Denshin Denwa Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shingo Kuroiwa, Shin-ichi Sakayori, Seiichi Yamamoto, Masanobu Fujioka

Patent number: 6011902Abstract: In an optical disc player, as signals are read from and written to an optical disc, the optical disc is rotated by a spindle motor and an optical pickup is moved by a sled motor. These motors are both direct-current motors. The motor control circuit of the invention uses a drive circuit based on the BTL method, and additionally uses a resistor that is connected in series with the direct-current motor between the output terminals of the drive circuit. The voltage drop across the resistor is fed back, as positive feedback, to the drive circuit through a feedback amplifier. Since, when the motor is started up, a high current flows through the motor and thus a large voltage drop occurs across the resistor, a high feedback voltage is obtained and thus a high drive voltage is applied to the motor.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1997Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: Rohm Co., Ltd.Inventor: Seiichi Yamamoto

Patent number: 5740318Abstract: A speech endpoint detection unit determines that a first condition is met when a matching score of a partial sentence accepted by a grammatical rule unit is the highest of all partial sentences, and that a second condition is met when a duration time of input speech determined to coincide with a silent standard pattern is longer than a predetermined time. A speech endpoint is determined when the first and second conditions are both met and a speech endpoint detection signal is sent to a word prediction unit and a recognition result output unit. By requiring that both first and second conditions be met, a speech endpoint can correctly be detected even when a long silent period is present in the course of a sentence.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1995Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masaki Naito, Shingo Kuroiwa, Kazuya Takeda, Seiichi Yamamoto
