    Abstract: A light emitting device includes a base, a light-emitting module, and a shielding case. The light-emitting module is fixed to the base via a curved flexible printed-circuit. The shielding case fixed to the base in such a manner that the light-emitting module is held in a position to resist a restoring force of the flexible printed-circuit which is generated by the curve of the flexible printed-circuit. The light-emitting module includes a heat source, and the shielding case includes a projection. The projection controls movement of the light-emitting module in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the light-emitting module is held by the shielding case. The projection and the light-emitting module are bonded to each other with silicone.

A reservation candidate acquirer of a communication terminal acquires from a software managing server reservation candidate information containing time information about time zones as candidates to which a reservation for download of an update file can be allocated. At the communication terminal a user selects a reserved time zone from the time zones corresponding to the time information included in the reservation candidate information, and the software managing server registers the reservation in the reserved time zone. Thereby, the reserved time zone can be selected from the candidate time zones transmitted by the software managing server and the candidate time zones are determined based on a reservation table set so as to spread loads on the software managing server and on the transmission path.

In order to retain the objective lens in the neutral position in the circumferential direction, two or four magnetic pieces are mounted on a lens mount and disposed near the circumferetial ends of the annular magnetic gaps in which the force caused by the magnetic potential energy in the magnetic gaps acts on the magnetic pieces to pull them back in the direction of the magnetic gaps so that a magnetic spring for retaining the objective lens at the neutral position is formed by the magnetic pieces.

    Abstract: An axially focusable objective lens is retained in a neutral position in the axial focusing direction by means of at leaast one magnetic member disposed inside or near the ends of magnetic gaps formed by yokes and magnets. The magnetic member is mounted on the periphery of a retaining tube which carries the objective lens and is positioned in the magnetic gaps which exhibit a non-uniform magnetic field distribution so that the magnetic member is subjected to a force acting in a direction in which the potential energy becomes stable. This force is utilized as a magnetic spring in the axial focusing direction. The magnetic spring requires no additional space thereby enabling a reduction in the size of the actuator and achieving excellent temperature characteristics.

    Abstract: An objective lens apparatus for an optical disc player comprises an objective lens holder rotatable about a center axis, an objective lens carried by the holder at a location spaced from the center axis, an optical member, a magnetic flux generating member for generating magnetic flux, and tracking and focusing coils interacting with the magnetic flux for effecting tracking and focusing adjustments of the objective lens. The optical member rotates simultaneously with the lens holder and leads light which is incident along the center axis to the objective lens in a direction parallel to the center axis thereby eliminating optical modulation of the light caused by rotation of the lens holder in the tracking direction.
