  • Patent number: 6895313
Abstract: An angular velocity detection device includes an angular velocity detector for delivering a first sensor output corresponding to an angular velocity of a mobile unit; a learning unit for learning a sensitivity coefficient in accordance with the first sensor output and an output provided by a GPS positioning unit; an acceleration detector for delivering a second sensor output corresponding to an acceleration of the mobile unit; a sensitivity coefficient correction unit for determining a corrected sensitivity coefficient in accordance with the sensitivity coefficient and the second sensor output; and an angular velocity converter for multiplying the first sensor output by the corrected sensitivity coefficient to thereby calculate the actual angular velocity of the mobile unit. The angular velocity detection device allows the angular velocity converter to use the corrected sensitivity coefficient to calculate each actual angular velocity of the mobile unit.

  • Publication number: 20040172173
Abstract: A mounting angle processor for determining a mounting angle of a vehicle-mounted device based on an acceleration sensor, a gyroscopic sensor and GPS receiver mounted in the vehicle mounted device, and a comparator for comparing the determined mounting angle and a permissible range corresponding thereto are provided. If the determined mounting angle is out of the permissible range, it is determined that the mounting angle is abnormal. Thus, a mounting angle detection device is provided for preventing the vehicle-mounted device such as a navigation device from being mounted at an improper angle, or for maintaining the accuracy of the vehicle-mounted device even in a case where the mounting angle of the vehicle-mounted device has been changed.

  • Patent number: 6757631
Abstract: A method of detecting an angle is provided with processes of: setting a bias voltage, as a standard voltage, which is an output voltage outputted from an angular velocity sensor (12) under a predetermined condition; and calculating the angle on the basis of a difference between the output voltage and the set or updated standard voltage. It is further provided with processes of storing time data, which indicate a time of setting or updating the standard voltage, in correspondence with standard voltage data; estimating a value of the bias voltage of the angular velocity sensor at each time between times of setting or updating the standard voltage; and correcting the calculated angle on the basis of a difference between a value of the standard voltage used in the calculation process and the estimated value of the bias voltage.
