  • Patent number: 9068857
Abstract: A navigation apparatus includes an exit route determine unit and a route guidance unit. The exit route determination unit determines whether an exit route of a route guidance from a branch point corresponds to a learned road link. The route guidance unit provides route guidance by presenting a progress direction toward the exit route from the branch point in a first mode or a second mode. Per the first mode, the progress direction is based on an existing road link, and per the second mode, the progress direction is based on the existing road link and the learned road link. Accordingly, the route guidance unit presents the progress direction in: (i) the first mode when the exit route from the branch point does not correspond to the learned road link, and (ii) the second mode, when the exit route from the branch point corresponds to the learned road link.

  • Patent number: 8825386
Abstract: A navigation apparatus having a road learning function includes a detector, a memory, an identifying device, a determination device, and a guidance device. The detector creates a learned road link connecting exit and return points in an existing link. The memory stores road information representing that the existing link forms a continuous road at an end of the learned road link. The identifying device identifies an entrance link into the end of the learned road link and an exit link from the end of the learned road link in a route. The road determination device determines whether the entrance and exit links form the continuous road. The guidance device prohibits the guidance on a direction to go at the end of the learned road link when the road determination device determines that the entrance and exit links form the continuous road.

  • Patent number: 8688373
Abstract: A control circuit of a navigation apparatus acquires exit port information in a rotary intersection for route guidance. It is determined whether a guidance point or guidance target used as an exit path from the rotary intersection is a learned road acquired by the road learning function. When the exit path is not a learned road, namely, when the exit path is an existing road in a ready-made map data, an “exit path guidance for existing roads” aimed at an exit port to an existing road is executed. In contrast, when the exit path from the rotary intersection is a learned road, an “exit path guidance for learned roads” aimed at an exit port to a learned road is executed.

  • Patent number: 8660795
Abstract: A navigation apparatus has a road learning function. When a new road is learned and a new road link is connected to one of a map road link present in a ready-made map data and a previously-learned road link, the navigation apparatus designates the one of the map road link and the learned road link as a base link and generates a supplement link that extends along the base link from a base-link-side end point of the new road link to an end point of the base link. The navigation apparatus specifies an entrance link and an exit link connected to a process target point on the guidance route, and determines content of the route guidance by using the base link corresponding to the supplement link when the entrance link or the exit link is the supplement link.
