  • Patent number: 7191875
Abstract: A disc brake includes a piston seal made of rubber that is shaped to fit into a seal groove on the inner surface of a cylinder of a caliper for a brake piston. To prevent braking effectiveness from being impaired, even if the temperature of a caliper rises in a disc brake for a vehicle, the piston seal and/or the seal groove is shaped to control and contain the effects of thermal expansion due to the heat of the disc brake. The clearance between the piston seal and the seal groove is removed and clearance is provided between parts of the periphery of the piston seal and the seal groove.

  • Patent number: 6367255
Abstract: A master cylinder for braking of reduced size and complexity and a method of making a master cylinder. The master cylinder includes a sub-tank for supplying working oil for braking, the sub-tank being integrally connected to a master cylinder main body. A first port and a second port are formed close to one another in a partition wall separating the master cylinder main body from the sub-tank. The sub-tank has a first opening and a second opening. The axes of the first and second ports in the partition wall pass through the first opening in the sub-tank, which allows tools to be inserted through the first opening to form both ports.

  • Patent number: 6293374
Abstract: A drum brake includes a brake drum attached to an axle, and a brake panel. The brake drum includes a disc portion and a cylindrical portion extending from an outer peripheral end portion of the disc portion towards the brake panel. On an outer peripheral end portion of the cylindrical portion, there is mounted a seal member. The brake panel includes an annular flat surface portion, and a cylindrical projecting portion projecting from an outer peripheral end portion of the annular flat surface portion towards the brake drum so as to surround the seal member. The seal member has plural resilient axial sealing lips and at least one resilient radial sealing lip. The axial sealing lips are in sealing contact with the annular flat surface portion, and the radial lip is in sealing contact with an inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical projecting portion.
