  • Publication number: 20040098718
Abstract: A task allocation method in a multiprocessor system having a first processor with a first instruction set and a second processor with a second instruction set. A task is allocated to either of the first processor or the second processor. The task corresponds to a program having an execution efficiency. The program includes a program module described by either of the first instruction set or the second instruction set. In the method, a task that corresponds to a program module described by the first instruction set is allocated to the first processor. It is determined whether or not the execution efficiency of the program is improved if a destination allocated for the task is changed from the first processor to the second processor. If the execution efficiency of the program is improved, the destination allocated for the task is changed to the second processor.

  • Publication number: 20030208599
Abstract: A server device and a communication connection scheme capable of expanding the memory bandwidth and thereby expanding the power to transmit Web data to the network are disclosed. Network cards are detachably attached to a host machine (main machine). Each network card contains a processor, a memory, and a network interface unit, where data are transmitted to the network from a memory on the network card and the memory bandwidth expansion is realized by the presence of a plurality of network cards. In addition, using a memory of the network card as a cache, the load on the host machine is reduced by transmitting data from this memory to the network when the data exists on the memory and a certain condition is satisfied.

  • Publication number: 20030097533
Abstract: A storage device for which restoration of data is possible without the need for excess equipment includes mirrored storage units for online use and for backup, and is capable of performing a data backup while continuing input and output of data. The storage device is further provided with an update data storage unit for storing update data. According to the storage device, even if the information stored in a storage unit for online use is not capable of being read because of a fault in the storage unit, it is possible to restore the data in the backup storage unit to the state that existed in the storage unit for online use immediately before the fault by applying the update data to the information stored in the storage device for backup.

  • Publication number: 20020032781
Abstract: An intermediary server apparatus relays an information readout request from a terminal to an origin server, and returns information provided by the origin server to the terminal. The intermediary server apparatus previously assigns a first user ID to a user to discriminate each user. The origin server assigns a second user ID to the user to identify the information readout request. In the intermediary server apparatus, a memory correspondingly stores the first user ID and the second user ID. A communication unit retrieves the second user ID corresponding to the first user ID from said memory in case of receiving the information readout request including the first user ID from the terminal, and sends the information readout request including the second user ID to the origin server.

  • Patent number: 6314232
Abstract: A data allocation control method is applicable to a data recording apparatus for writing and/or reading data to/from a recording surface of a disciform recording medium. In this method, data to be recorded on the recording surface is divided into a plurality of data blocks to be consecutively dealt with. Next, allocation information for designating each location of the plurality of data blocks is generated such that a second data block next to a first data block included in the plurality of data blocks is located to keep a predetermined interval from a location of the first data block.

  • Patent number: 6120245
Abstract: A cooling structure around the output shaft of an L-shaped vertical gas turbine, for cooling the output shaft effectively by a natural ventilation. A gas generator 5 is arranged horizontally whereas an output turbine 1 is arranged vertically, and a pump or the like is driven by an output shaft 3. A cylinder 20 is fitted in a space 12 between the output shaft 3 and a cylindrical casing 13 and is fixed at a cylindrical flange 20a. Cooling air 30 is caused to flow upward from between the cylinder 20 and the output shaft 3 by the ejector effect of an exhaust gas from below a baseplate 8 and by the vacuum in the casing and then to flow downward from the upper end of the cylinder 20 between the cylinder 20 and the cylindrical casing 13, so that it flows out from the lower portion into the package. The output shaft of the L-shaped vertical type gas turbine having a compact narrow space is effectively cooled therearound by the natural ventilation without providing any fan or the like.
