  • Patent number: 5131357
Abstract: A V-type engine cylinder block includes a mounting pedestal, integrally formed with the block in a V-shaped space between two cylinder banks and interconnecting the cylinder banks. A top wall is secured to the mounting pedestal and extends over almost the entire length of the V-shaped space in a lengthwise direction of the cylinder block. A plurality of bosses are formed with internal threads for securing a bracket, for mounting the cylinder block onto a car body, to one end wall of the cylinder block by bolts. The mounting pedestal and bosses are interconnected by ribs integrally formed with the cylinder block.

  • Patent number: 5111774
Abstract: An engine cooling system includes an engine body or block having a plurality of cylinder banks, a plurality of water jackets communicated with each other for individually cooling the cylinder banks, a cooling water passage including a plurality of branch portions respectively connected to the water jackets and a joining portion convergently continued from the branch portions, and a cooling water filler provided on the joining portion at a position near one of the cylinder banks. Accordingly, the height of an engine hood of a vehicle can be effectively reduced, and in the case of filling cooling water into the filler, air in the water jackets can be smoothly expelled, thus improving water filling ability by a simple and low-cost construction.

  • Patent number: 4984538
Abstract: A cooling system for a V-type engine includes an a cross-flow type radiator arranged substantially parallel with an engine body and having a pair of tanks on opposite sides thereof. A water pump is mounted on one end of the engine body, a thermostat is disposed at the other end of the engine body, a coolant inlet port is formed the end of the engine body at which the water pump is provided for supplying coolant from the water pump into the engine body, and a coolant outlet port is formed the same end of the engine body at which the coolant inlet port is formed for discharging the coolant out of the engine body. A coolant return port is provided at one tank of the radiator adjacent to the water pump for returning the coolant from the engine body. A coolant supply port is provided at the other tank of the radiator isolated from the water pump for supplying the coolant to the engine body. A suction line is positioned in a V-shaped shape of the engine between the thermostat and the water pump.

  • Patent number: 4950210
Abstract: An engine peripheral structure having a timing belt cover mounted on a cylinder block, an engine mount bracket fixed to the cylinder block through an opening formed in the belt cover, a water pump housing arranged adjacent to the bracket and integrally formed with annular rib. The annular rib is formed with an extended portion projected beyond surface of the belt cover through the opening. The extended portion of the annular rib of the pump housing is continued with outer surface portion of the bracket. The extended portion and the outer surface portion is extended along an edge portion of the opening of the belt cover. The bracket is formed with a circular rib facing to a remaining portion of the annular rib other than the extended portion. This structure improves a sealing property in a timing belt chamber defined by the belt cover, bracket, pump housing and the cylinder block.
