  • Patent number: 6206814
Abstract: The present invention provides a cold rolling composite work roll with an outer layer having excellent high abrasion resistance and spalling resistance. The outer layer of the cold rolling composite work roll comprises; 0.9-1.5 wt % C, 0.3-1.0 wt % Si, 0.3-1.0 wt % Mn, 4.0-10.0 wt % Cr, 2.0-8.0 wt % Mo, 0.5-5.0 wt % V, and the remainder Fe and unavoidable impurities. A cold rolling composite work roll with high abrasion resistance has an outer layer with the above-mentioned composition wherein Mo is 3.0-8.0 wt %, formed by a continuous process for cladding around the perimeter of a core material made from ingot steel or forged steel. A cold rolling composite work roll with excellent spalling resistance has the above-mentioned composition wherein the surface portion of the outer layer formed by the continuous pouring process for cladding has a compression residual stress of 60 kgf/mm2 or lower and a Shore hardness of HS 90 or greater.

  • Patent number: 5419973
Abstract: A composite roll for hot rolling wherein the outer layer portion of a composite roll comprises a steel comprised of, in terms of % by weight, 1.5 to 2.4% of C, 3 to 6% of V and 10 to 20% of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Cr, Mo and W and optionally at least one element of 0.05 to 0.20% of Al and 0.02 to 0.10% of Ti as an inoculation material, with the balance comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities, the outer layer portion comprising a metallic structure which has a crystal grain diameter of 30 to 150 .mu.m and is surrounded by a eutectic carbide crystallized in the grain boundary or a metallic structure wherein a primary crystallized carbide is further dispersed and crystallized in a matrix structure of the crystal. It is excellent particularly in the surface roughening resistance.

  • Patent number: 4861682
Abstract: A stainless clad plate or sheet (herein called sheet) comprising a super-low carbon steel layer containing at least one of Ti and Nb (Ti+Nb.ltoreq.0.15% and ##EQU1## and an austenite stainless steel layer on one or both sides of the carbon steel layer. The thickness of the stainless steel layer is preferably from 2.5 to 30% of the total thickness of the clad steel sheet. The stainless clad steel sheet is produced preferably by continuous casting stainless steel melt on the carbon steel slab, hot and cold rolling the stainless clad steel slab, and annealing under specific conditions for desired properties.
