  • Patent number: 5830373
Abstract: A color cathode ray tube has a face panel, a phosphor screen formed on an inner surface of the face panel, an electron gun for emitting electron beams toward the phosphor screen, and a shadow mask arranged between the electron gun and the face panel to oppose the phosphor screen. The shadow mask has a large number of electron beam apertures through which the electron beams pass. Each of the electron beam apertures has a small opening open to a first surface of the shadow mask and a large opening open to a second surface of the shadow mask and communicating with the small opening. The large opening has a center axis and a diameter larger than that of the small opening. A wall surface of the shadow mask which defines the large opening of each of the electron beam apertures located at a peripheral portion of the shadow mask includes a bulged portion.

  • Patent number: 5635320
Abstract: A shadow mask of a color cathode ray tube has a large number of electron beam apertures through which electron beams emitted from the electron gun pass. Bach of the electron beam apertures has a larger opening open to a surface of the shadow mask on a phosphor screen side, and a smaller opening open to a surface of the shadow mask on an electron gun side and communicating with the larger opening. The smaller opening of each of the electron beam apertures located at a peripheral portion of the shadow mask is defined by a wall surface of the shadow mask. The wall surface includes an outward portion which is located outward in a radial direction with respect to a center of the shadow mask and a central-side portion which is located on a central side of the shadow mask. An angle defined by the outward portion and a central axis of the smaller opening is larger than an angle defined by the central-side portion and the central axis of the smaller opening.

  • Patent number: 5411822
Abstract: A shadow mask includes a mask substrate having vertical and horizontal axes passing through a center of the substrate, and a number of substantially rectangular apertures. The apertures are arranged so that a plurality of vertical trains of apertures extending parallel to the vertical axis are arranged at predetermined intervals in the direction of the horizontal axis. Each of the apertures other than the apertures located on the vertical axis has a pair of outer corners distant from the vertical axis, a pair of inner corners less distant from the vertical-axis side, and a pair of bulging portions extending from the outer corners, respectively, outward in the horizontal direction. The farther each of the apertures is located from the vertical axis, the longer the bulging portions extend outward.

  • Patent number: 5230920
Abstract: A coating apparatus for coating a sensitizing solution onto a surface of an elongated metal plate includes a transfer roller and a coating nozzle for coating the sensitizing solution on a circumferential surface of the roller. The circumferential surface of the transfer roller is in contact with the surface of the metal plate running in the longitudinal direction under a predetermined tension. The transfer roller is rotated in a direction opposite to that in which the metal plate is run, so that the coated sensitizing solution is transferred from the circumferential surface of the transfer roller on the surface of the metal plate.
