The image forming mechanism forms a toner image on a recording medium according to image data. The fixing roller fixes the toner image on the recording medium by applying heat. The heater heats the fixing roller to warm up the fixing roller. The sensor detects a temperature of the fixing roller. The warm-up mechanism warms up the fixing roller by using the heater. The controller performs a first warm-up control that finishes the warm-up of the fixing roller and a second warm-up control that continues the warm-up of the fixing roller.

Abstract: A fixing device, which is constructed in a way that can easily straighten the curl without increasing cost and can prevent a re-curl generated after the sheet has been straightened, comprises a heat unit and a press unit and an ejecting unit. The heat unit and the press unit dispose a sheet opposite to a midway position of the sheet ejecting/transporting path, wherein the sheet supports a toner image. The toner image is fixed on the sheet by heat and pressure of the heat unit and the press unit, then the sheet is transported to the ejecting unit. The sheet is ejected by the ejecting unit in a way that makes the sheet keep in a condition turned back reverse to a bending direction generated when the sheet is sent out from the heat unit and the press unit.

Abstract: A system for detecting replacement of a replaceable fixing device in an image forming apparatus, including providing the replaceable fixing device with a roller, and detecting via a detecting device whether or not the fixing device is replaced based on a rotation of the roller. The detecting device includes an electrical connector having electrical contacts. The electrical contacts are maintained in a contact position when the replaceable fixing device is first replaced. Rotation of the roller causes the electrical contacts to be released from the contact position which is detected by the detecting means for detecting that the fixing device is replaced.

Abstract: An electrophotographic image forming apparatus has an image forming device for forming a toner image, an image transfer device for transferring a toner image to a sheet, a toner fixing device for fixing the toner on the sheet and a conveying device for conveying the sheet from the image transfer device to the toner fixing device. A toner removing device is positioned in a conveyance path of the sheet from the image transfer device to the toner fixing device for removing toner from back of the sheet. The toner removing device assumes an electrical bias having a polarity opposite that of the toner.
