  • Patent number: 7777154
Abstract: A method to manufacture a divided waveplate filter by laser irradiation. A material layer is formed on the surface of a substrate material. A laser oscillator programmed to form a predetermined pattern scans light to form the divided waveplates. In some embodiments, the divided waveplate material layer may be selectively removed by laser ablation. In some embodiments, the material layer has a phase-difference characteristic and the divided waveplates may be formed by removing the phase-difference characteristic of the material layer using laser light without removing the material layer itself. The material layer may be covered by a laser absorbing layer such as titanium oxide. The divided waveplate may be protected by covering the entire surface with a protective layer 6.

  • Patent number: 7715618
Abstract: A controller (101) designates the method of integrating viewpoint images. An image integrator (102) creates an integrated image by placing individual viewpoint images in appropriate positions. A 3D image control information creator (103) creates 3D image control information by formatting the placement mode of individual viewpoint images and various 3-dimensional image characteristics. An encoder (104) encodes integrated image data. A multiplexer (105) multiplexes the coded data and the 3D image control information and outputs them. A filename deciding unit (106) decides the name of a file when multiplexed data is recorded as a file. A storage directory deciding unit (107) decides the directory in which a file to be recorded is stored. A file creator (108) records a file with the decided filename under the decided storage directory. Thus, the distinction between 3-dimensional display image data and 2-dimensional image data can be clarified.

  • Patent number: 7215302
Abstract: Even if a divided wavelength plate filter is mounted, it is possible to reliably display a three-dimensional image or perform a displaying operation on from one screen to a plurality of screens. In a display device, the relative positions of an image display section and a divided wavelength plate filter for rotating polarized light from image information at a first segment in a direction that is different from the direction of polarized light from image information at a second segment can be adjusted. At the time of positional adjustment, the display device displays a position adjustment pattern (112) having colors, figures, characters, symbols, diagrams, or designs, or combinations thereof which differ from each other depending on the segment.

  • Publication number: 20060209183
Abstract: A transmission-side device, when transmitting as data a plurality of two-dimensional images of different viewpoints, used as stereoscopic vision-use images, transmits the data of the two-dimensional images, and in addition, viewpoint-number information allotted to each data of the two-dimensional images and viewpoint-number information as information for selecting one or more two-dimensional images, together with the data of the two-dimensional images as attached information. A transmission-side device receives the plurality of image data and the attached information, and when performing a thumb-nail display, etc., by one image out of the plurality of the image data for example, performs a process for selecting the image data from the viewpoint-number information as information for selecting the two-dimensional images.

  • Publication number: 20050284845
Abstract: An adhesive layer is formed on a substrate by printing such that the adhesive layer has a predetermined pattern. A film having a phase-difference characteristic is bonded thereon to form a divided waveplate material layer. The divided waveplate material layer is divided all at once with cutter blades disposed in a row such that the divided waveplate material layer has the predetermined pattern. Then the divided waveplate material layer remaining on portions to be removed is removed, thereby forming divided waveplates on the substrate such that the divided waveplates have the predetermined pattern.

  • Patent number: 6963356
Abstract: A polarizing plate (11) having a rightward and upward polarization angle is provided on a display screen (10), and a ½-wave plate (21) whose optical axis is at 45 deg. to said polarization angle is applied to said right half. A ½-wave plate (22) whose optical axis is orthogonal to that of said ½-wave plate (21) is applied to a right-eye side of a polarizing plate (12) (glasses) which has a leftward and upward polarization angle and which is to be worn by a viewer. Thus, images for left and right eyes can be viewed by left and right eyes through the ½-wave plates. The image for a right eye (13R) that should not enter a left eye (14L) is completely blocked by a polarization angle orthogonal thereto. The image for a left eye (13L) that should not enter a right eye (14R) is completely blocked to prevent crosstalk between the left and right images because the optical axes of the two phase difference plates (21, 22) are in an orthogonal state in which the coordinate axis is rotated 90 deg.

  • Patent number: 5052831
Abstract: A color printer for thermally transferring a set of monochrome images of each desired color reproduction from a color transfer strip to a recipient sheet as the latter is fed back and forth by and past a platen roll disposed intermediate a sheet loading cassette and a sheet unloading cassette. The printer additionally comprises a thermal printing head for pressing the transfer strip, in superposition with each recipient sheet fed from the loading cassette, against the platen roll for thermal ink transfer, and a pinch roller disposed upstream of the printing head, with respect to the traveling direction of the recipient sheet from the loading cassette to the unloading cassette, for pressing the recipient sheet against the platen roll. For more precise registration of the monochrome images of each color reproduction, a retractable end abutment is disposed between printing head and pinch roller.
