  • Patent number: 10477061
Abstract: An image forming apparatus temporarily stores, in an image memory, image data generated by a front surface reading unit and a back surface reading unit for reading images of a front surface and a back surface of an original respectively. A CPU of an image forming apparatus, at a time of starting a copy job, sets an output frequency of the image memory (transfer rate of image data) to a first frequency F1 that is lower than a second frequency F2. The CPU sets the output frequency of the image memory to the second frequency F2 when transfer of the image data of the first page which corresponds to the front surface of a first original completes.

  • Patent number: 10447876
Abstract: An image reading apparatus, including: a first distance detector configured to measure a first distance of the original conveyed after a sensor is changed from a first state detecting the original to a second state not detecting the original; a second distance detector configured to measure a second distance of the original conveyed after the second state is changed to the first state; and a controller configured to control a conveyor so that the conveyor starts a conveyance of a succeeding original when the second distance reaches a conveyance permission distance before the first distance reaches a hole detection distance and the conveyor stops the succeeding original when the second state is changed to the first state before the first distance reaches the hole detection distance, and thereafter starts the conveyance of the succeeding original when the first distance reaches the hole detection distance.

  • Patent number: 10321006
Abstract: A document reading device includes a conveyer for conveying a document sheet using a single drive source, a reader for reading an image of the document sheet being conveyed through a reading position, and a controller for stopping the conveyance by the conveyer if a read request for a first document sheet, which is being conveyed upstream of the reading position in a conveyance direction, has not received. The controller invalidates the image read from a second document sheet which is being conveyed downstream of the first document sheet if the trailing edge of the second document sheet has not passed through the reading position at a timing when the conveyance is stopped because of the read request having not been received, and validates the image read from the second document sheet if the trailing edge of the second document sheet has passed through the reading position.

  • Patent number: 10289358
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which is capable of reading an original, temporarily storing image data in a storage unit, and then transferring the image data to an image forming unit to improve FCOT in forming an image. A memory stores image data output from image reading units. An image forming unit forms an image on a recording medium based on the image data stored in the memory. A first memory output frequency in a first mode in which one side of an original is read and an image is formed on one side of a recording medium is lower than a second memory output frequency in a second mode in which both sides of an original are read and an image is formed both sides of a recording medium.

  • Patent number: 10154155
Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a first unit, a second unit that is pivotable against the first unit, and a controller. The first unit includes a platen, a member, and a movable first reader. The second unit includes an original tray, a conveyance unit that conveys an original from the original tray, a static second reader. The controller determines an opening/closing state of the second unit against the first unit based on read data obtained when the second reader reads the member. The first reader reads the first side of an original conveyed by the conveyance unit and the second reader reads the second side of the original when the original placed on the original tray is read. The first reader reads the first side while moving under the original when the original placed on the platen is read.

  • Patent number: 10148851
Abstract: An image reading apparatus reads an original image of an original, which is conveyed along a conveyance path, using a scanner unit and a CCD sensor unit. A separation sensor, a lead sensor, and a sheet discharge sensor, which are provided to the conveyance path, detect occurrence of a jam. A restarting method for reading processing of the original after the occurrence of the jam includes a first restarting method of re-placing all of the originals, which have been fed, on an original tray and a second restarting method of re-placing only an unread original on the original tray, and is set by a user. In a case where the second restarting method is set, the restarting method is determined from any one of the first restarting method and the second restarting method based on a discharged length of the original having been discharged to a sheet discharge tray.

  • Publication number: 20180150267
Abstract: A control method of an image forming apparatus for eliminating waste of sheet when a jam of an original occurs at the time of reading while shortening FCOT (First Copy Output Time) is provided. In the image forming apparatus, when double-sided image reading of the original fed by an ADF and the like is performed, for a first original, before the image reading of the first original is completed, a read image of the first original is started to print (printer output). A second original is not discharged but it is temporarily stopped. Then, if the image reading of the second original is failed, after the second original is replaced and after the image reading is completed, the read image of the second original is started to print (printer output).

  • Patent number: 7457552
Abstract: Image forming apparatus in which surface electric potentials of a plurality of surface areas are detected by charging a photoconductor with a different applied bias for each predetermined timing and exposing a plurality of surface areas of the photoconductor by scanning the photoconductor with an optical beam, while changing an exposure intensity of the optical beam for each of the surface areas of the photoconductor. Then, the applied bias necessary for obtaining a predetermined electric potential of a dark section and the exposure intensity of the optical beam necessary for obtaining a predetermined electric potential of a bright section are controlled, on the basis of the surface electric potentials that are detected respectively from the different applied biases and the different exposure intensities. Thereby, the adjustment time can be made shorter than the conventional case.
