The electronic device includes: an authenticating section that authenticates a battery pack connected so as to supply power to determine whether the battery pack is a genuine product; a user interface; and a controller for controlling the electronic device. The controller tries authentication of the battery pack connected so as to supply power with the authentication section. When the battery pack has been authenticated, the discharging of the battery pack is enabled. When the battery pack has not been authenticated, the controller requests the user to input recognition whether the battery pack is a genuine product through the user interface, and changes the control for the battery pack between when the user inputs, in response to the request, the recognition that the battery pack is a genuine product and when the user inputs the recognition that the battery pack is not a genuine product.

  • Publication number: 20060263101
Abstract: A sheet paper identification apparatus and method for stably identifying a sheet paper while preventing erroneous identification caused by dust adhered to an imaging section and caused by fluctuation in illumination brightness. An imaging section (7) images the interior of the imaging section (7) before a sheet paper is fed to capture image data on an image showing no sheet paper. When a sheet paper is fed into the imaging section (7), the imaging section (7) images the sheet paper and captures image data on an image showing a sheet paper. An image data analyzing section (8) creates a density histogram of the image showing no sheet paper from the image data on the image showing no sheet paper and detects dust adhered to the imaging section (7) on the basis of the density histogram. If the amount of particles exceeds a reference value, the image data analyzing section (8) sends a report about the abnormality of the imaging section (7) to a control section (2).

  • Publication number: 20060177093
Abstract: A sheet identifying device and method for identifying the kind of sheet or checking whether a sheet is a genuine or counterfeit one correctly without influence of the state of the sheet. Data on the image of a sheet is acquired, and the image data is binarized according to a watermark region extraction threshold. Image data on the watermark region is extracted according to the sheet image data. The watermark region image data is binarized according to a watermark pattern extraction threshold. The center of gravity of the watermark region is calculated on the basis of the watermark region image data. The watermark region image data is divided into divisions using the center of gravity of the watermark region as the origin. From the watermark region image data, image data on a predetermined specific region is extracted. Values of distinctive features such as the center of gravity and area of the watermark pattern included in the specific region image data are extracted.
