However, there is no stable and highly reproducible cell-based assay method for measuring the potency of botulinum toxin. Since botulinum toxin is a very potent neurotoxin protein, the development of highly specific and sensitive cells is particularly required for accurate cell-based measurement of the potency of botulinum toxin. A neuronal cell line with altered gene expression is disclosed.
