    Abstract: Approaches for managing alarms and alarm system performance in an industrial system are described. The industrial system may include an operation technology network (OTN) which may be communicatively coupled to an information technology network (ITN) through a unidirectional gateway which allows data transfer from the OTN to ITN, but not vice versa. The approaches as described enable transmission of event data pertaining to events or operations that may be underway in the factory site where the industrial system is installed. In addition, the present approaches also enable collection and transmission of attribute data pertaining to one or more operational parameters of control systems (DCS, SIS, PLC's, SCADA), to the ITN. The event data and the attribute data may then be processed by any module(s) that may be implemented within the ITN to generate various event related insights and insights into metrics of the alarm management system or other systems present within the OTN.

An embodiment operates by receiving information about a status of each of a plurality of alarm configurations monitored by a control system. Calculating one or more alarm configuration health metrics based on the received information. The calculated one or more alarm configuration health metrics are displayed in a user interface. A first action that will increase a value of a first alarm metric of the one or more alarm configuration health metrics is identified. The first action is displayed on the user interface. A selection of the first action is received via the user interface. The user interface is updated to display additional details about a subset of the plurality of alarm configurations associated with the first action.

In this regard, a request to obtain alarm tuning recommendation data for one or more alarm configuration parameters related to one or more industrial processes in an industrial environment is transmitted to a server system in response to an action performed with respect to a first user interface configuration for an interactive user interface. In response to the request, the alarm tuning recommendation data is received from the server system. The alarm tuning recommendation data is configured based at least on alarm insight data associated with respective alarm count reduction predictions for the one or more alarm configuration parameters.
