Abstract: Provided is an apparatus for deleting a text message received in a mobile communication terminal including an information detecting unit for detecting deletion time information from the received text message; a time checking unit for checking whether the deletion time arrives; and a deleting unit for deleting the received text message at the deletion time. The deletion time information is generated when the text message is generated by a calling side mobile communication terminal, is transmitted, and then is inserted as a predetermined tag into a CHARi field of a user data subparameter, from among subparameters of the bearer data parameter of the transport layer in the short message service data burst message structure. Otherwise, the deletion time information is included in a validity period subparameter, or is detected in a newly added subparameter. The apparatus may allow a selected message to be automatically deleted.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for providing payment service in a mobile communication system. According to the method, when an event for processing a credit payment is detected, a first FACILITY message requesting a credit payment process is created and transmitted to a mobile communication network. Accordingly, a portable terminal can provide a credit payment service even if it does not have a communication module or chip for payment processing.

Abstract: A portable terminal capable of guiding a user to invoke a function and a method thereof. In the portable terminal, a voice detector detects a keyword uttered by voice corresponding to a function; a display displays guide information for guiding a user to access the function and key information indicating at least one key available to access the function, a key interface, having a plurality of keys in hardware or software, illuminates the available key according to the key information in response to an input signal; a storage stores a manual containing the guide information and the key information; and a controller controls the display to display the guide information and the key information according to the manual upon receipt of the keyword, and controls the key interface to illuminate the at least one available key according to the key information.

Abstract: A device and a method are disclosed for providing pointing means for a terminal with a touch screen, which can easily select an intended item displayed on the touch screen by accurately pointing to the intended item through a pointer displayed on a screen when a pointer activating mode is selected by a user and performing an operation according to the selected item. Input errors are reduced by allowing a user to provide accurate input.
