  • Patent number: 8804655
Abstract: Provided are a wireless local area network (LAN) network, a mobile station and a base station, and a method of controlling handoff in the wireless LAN network. The wireless LAN network includes a mobile station and a number of base stations. The mobile station notifies a previously connected first base station of an entry into a power-save mode, performs a handoff process with a second base station, and then notifies the first base station of an exit from the power-save mode. Each of the base stations buffers a packet to be transmitted from a public network to the mobile station when the each of the base station is notified of the entry into the power-save mode by the mobile station, and transmits the buffered packet to the mobile station when the each of the base station is notified of the exit from the power-save mode by the mobile station. This wireless LAN network system and method is capable of performing handoff without packet loss.

  • Patent number: 7573846
Abstract: A method and system for supporting mobility of a mobile node in which, when it is recognized that the mobile node has moved into a foreign sub-network, the mobile node is allocated, by its home sub-network, a new Internet protocol address suitable for a prefix of the foreign sub-network after movement when moving out of an area of the home sub-network into the foreign sub-network so that route optimization is implemented. Since direct communication is made between a mobile node and a correspondent node without passing a network where the mobile node existed before movement, it is possible to implement the route optimization. There is no generation of packet overhead since Internet protocol tunneling technology is not applied upon routing.

  • Patent number: 7433309
Abstract: In a wireless LAN system, an apparatus for controlling load balance of multi-access points and a method thereof prevent load from being concentrated on a specific access point by comparatively evaluating received load values of many access points after receiving the load values from the access points, and enabling the access point having the concentrated load to reject terminal access or remove prior-accessed terminals. The apparatus comprises: wireless LAN terminals having wireless LAN interfaces and receiving a wireless LAN service; access points providing the wireless LAN service to the wireless LAN terminals, periodically transmitting load state information, and suppressing an increase of load when a load suppressing signal is received; and a management system comparatively evaluating load states of each access point by receiving the load state information from the access points, and transmitting a load increase suppressing signal to access points under certain conditions.

  • Publication number: 20080192699
Abstract: Provided are a wireless local area network (LAN) network, and a mobile station and method of controlling handoff in the wireless LAN network. The method includes the steps of: transmitting and receiving, at a mobile station, a data packet to and from a currently connected first base station using a first antenna; scanning, at the mobile station, an adjacent base station using a second antenna and establishing a link with a second base station detected by the scanning operation; and after establishing, at the mobile station, the new link, comparing communication environments of the first and second base stations and selecting a base station providing a better communication environment. According to the system and method of controlling handoff in a wireless LAN network, a connection with a previous base station can be maintained while establishing a link with a new base station. Consequently, it is possible to prevent packet transmission delay and packet loss that may be caused by handoff.

  • Publication number: 20070177540
Abstract: In a system and method for transmitting data in a wireless local area network (WLAN), the system includes: a wireless station which, when a No Acknowledge (ACK) function of the WLAN is applied, transmits a No ACK request message based on a protection mechanism according to a frame transmission condition based on link status packet information which is transmitted from an upper layer; and an access point for sequentially receiving a frame from the wireless station without a delay time depending on the No ACK request message received from the wireless station. The method comprises steps corresponding to the above functions of the wireless station and the access point of the disclosed system.

  • Publication number: 20070177531
Abstract: A frame processing method in a wireless local area network includes: confirming quality status according to signal level value of a frame received via a wireless medium, error status of a frame or receipt status of an acknowledgment frame in response to frame transmission; determining split size information of a transmitting frame according to the quality status; and upon generation of the transmitting frame, splitting and transmitting the transmitting frame according to size information of the transmitting frame and the split size information. The frame size is optimized when frames are transmitted between an access point (AP) and a station, thereby maximizing a service area that the AP can cover while maximizing frame transmission rate.

  • Publication number: 20040242230
Abstract: A complex wireless service arrangement using wired or wireless communication systems allows, with a terminal device, a service using a broadband mobile communication system when the terminal device is positioned in a public wireless network (e.g., broadband wireless service network), and a service using a wired and wireless complex gateway where a home or private (narrowband wireless service) wireless technique such as WLAN, Bluetooth, UWB or the like is available, and a wired communication system such as xDSL/Ethernet/POTS or the like in an inbuilding/inhouse area. A call drop is prevented upon moving between areas when the terminal device is busy, and allows, in the narrowband service range, a service provided in the wired and wireless complex gateway, and a service in association with a broadband wireless network via the wired network.
